Nylon shuttle users, anyone tried Head AP500 before? How does it compare to Yonex Mavis 300?

Mini review : Head AP500 vs Mavis 300

Out of curiosity, I got myself some medium speed Head Air Performance 500 shuttles to try out. Since Mavis 300 is quite popular among nylon shuttle users, will do a direct comparison with it:

Construction: Pretty well built and have a similar quality as Mavis. The skirt does feel firmer.

    Weight: Head AP500 = 5.3 g , Mavis 300 = 5.0 g

Colour: The yellow isn’t that bright. Visibility isn’t that profound as Mavis.

Speed: Despite having a decent flight, it plays slightly slower than Mavis.

    Durability: Similar to Mavis.

Feel: Less crisp/solid than Mavis. Unfortunately, feel plays a big part in badminton. Some might even reject it after the first few hits.

Conclusion: It is a decent shuttle for recreational players who are not too particular about the feel. Then again, if you are that fussy, you won’t be using nylon shuttles. Can’t ask for more from a well built economical shuttle. You can get a tube for only US$5 off e-bay.
