I am planning to buy carbonex 21 special. Can some one please tell me pros and cons specific to this racket. Currently i am using the basic yonex racket B-700 DF. I generally play doubles , defensive, not very good at smash, good at overhead and drops. Any suggestion would be highly appreciated
I got this racquet strung with BG66, tension 23lb at a good price (SGD90). It is definitely a few classes above the B-700F. Initially do not like it (may be the tension is too low, but the spec is up to 25lb only), but the more I use it, the better I feel it is. Pros: Solid, cheapest made in Japan Carbonex. Reasonably light. Stiff (powerful). It is oval, so: Cons: Very small sweet spot. Pro: Very powerful if you hit at the sweet spot. There is an senior player in my group uses this rackquet too. His control is superb. Carbonex 21 SP is better but more expensive.
I am not a heavy user, but the durability is acceptable to me. This is one of a classic racket made by yonex. I Have been using cab21 spl for the past 10 years. I have broken 4to 5 rackets but i still like the racket, even after using almost all the top yonex rackets. A truly a great racket, It is a all-round racket. You regret buying this racket.

The original Carbonex 21 SP has already ceased production. The current one is different from the original in terms of look (the original shaft is very slim whereas the current one is a bit thick). The specs and feel I don't know. I still keep the original Carbonex 21 SP though. Have been using it since year 2001 but it has been downgraded to my backup racquet because I find that Victor Super Wave 33 Control or Prince Oversive Dive is more suitable for me.

CAB 21 Special is made in Taiwan developed by Yonex Japan. The most noticeable difference compared to CAB 21 and CAB 21 SP is the shaft. The Special have a thicker and slightly softer shaft compared to the other 2.
That's quite a surprise on that, no meaning to discredit. Perhaps the newer CAB 21 Special are made in Japan compared to the ones I saw long time ago? (can't find any of these anywhere here now in Malaysia or rather I don't really look at rackets nowadays). The CAB 21 SP is still in production with a different color scheme. Black with hints of gold and red but mainly available in 3U. Bought one last year but sold it off as its a little light. Still prefer the older color scheme in 2U.
I am not able to find the CAB 21 SP here at stores in mumbai. asked the store keeper abt cab 21 and cab 21 sp. he said that cab 21 is discontinued and cab 21 SP is vaiable only in south pacific region and only available one is cab 21 special. and i m very keen at buying it but the only issue is its durablity as i play doubles so sometimes the racket so happen to clash (minor clash) to wld dat fracture the racket. dats the only concern rest i thnk it would suit by game play very well
Dont worry my friend No matter it is 21, 21 special, or 21 sp, all of em carry the great name and legacy of Carbonex. And I can assure you that Carbonex racket ranging from 20 to 35 are tough and durable. The main drawback of Carbonex is it can't bear ultra high tension. cab20 to cab 25 should be able to withstand 27-28 lbs while still maitaining their durability from clashes. Cab30 too is able to withstand 29-30, still maintaining its durability from pretty heave clashes. As for Cab35 i dont have experience with that model. But my prediction is cab35 can withstand 30-32 which is the highest tension strungable racket from Carbonex series along with Cab30
i have 2 Carbonex 21 special.this carbonex 21 special was my back up racket after my prince oversize break after i smash so hard.it tension at 28lbs..prince racket got great control but easily broken.. im thinking to buy new racket..my thinking was Carbonex 21 Sp not Special..Carbonex 21 sp have same weight spec like prince oversize which is 3U...so my question is anyone still used carbonex 21 sp spec 3UG5???
I Saw a Carbonex 21 Special at Sportlink but the Price tag to it shows Carbonex 21 SP. Ask the store personnel and he said that Special stands for SP . So which is which?? Can a Carbonex 21 Special be tag as a 21 SP?? Kind of misleading to me. Are 21 SP still in production? and will I be able to get one? Or the 21 Special has replace the 21 SP ? -Posting form Spore
my 21SP is 2u g5 spec and its 16 years old. i use it for warm up swings only now as it totally messes up my timing on my VTs. must be the oval frame i know they still sell both 21 special and 21 SP here in KL. there is a big difference in price too
