slipped on the court will have you landed on the butt area , instead of injuring your back.

ok, what I am about to say is not what I am recommending :) ...but am only mentioning what I have done in the past few years.

I had a disc herniation since I was young (18) and had a surgery then. I stopped playing for 15 yrs, and then started playing. sure enough, the problem came back. Altho bending forward makes me feel better, it is a MUST that you DO NOT bend forward (to make your back feel better). It will only push the disc further out and hitting your nerves.

I do all my physiotherapy exercises everyday. At least once a day when the back doesnt hurt, twice a day if it starts to hurt again. When the back is really bad, I do take a break for like a week or 2, after that, if there is still a bit of pain, I play, BUT very defensively i.e. I rarely smash, and I rarely dive for drops etc. I keep my body straight most of the time and just play defensively. I pick games that I know are not demanding ie playing with beginner/intermediate players and not advanced. This way I get to play and exercise.

When I take a break, I go on elliptical for about 10 min at the gym.
If I feel pain is getting worse at anytime, I STOP completely..not doing anything at all, stop running, stop playing etc.

    Hope this helps

when my back pain from excessive torturing games, I'll do the #17. It works for me. How about some acupuncture? ;) Play with caution even though there are some tempting shots which boost your hormones showing some good shots movement to opposite ***. lol. ;)
