Just got back from this event today.

    http://www.badminton.dk/default.asp?pageid=372

    for more info.

What happened to T. Hidayat? This was certainly one of the main attractions. Instead, P. Rasmussen made short work of another young Indonesian (16year old Sony Dwi Kuncono) who played instead of him.

PS. It's televised live from the arena at 15.00 hrs tomorrow (Sunday) on TV2 Zulu. For those who can't receive TV2 Zulu, TV2 (iirc.) is making a broadcast at 22.40.

Why was it a walkover in the first MD match?

Did Sony start at his usual 'hurricane' pace?

Ok, I've gotten a reply to my own question. Chan Chong Ming injured his elbow. It's supposedly quite serious and he may not be able to play for a month or so. Sheesh. What a way to and the year, what a time to get injured!!! Really hope it isn't as serious as it's made out to be. Hopefully he can still make it in time for the AE. :(

Star Sports says that it is due to a fever that he contracted during the China Open.

WB also states that he's injured. Either the reporter of The Star didn't get it clear, or they're just trying to cover up for his injury.

Peter Gade is back. I'd say he is definately going to be hungry and he'll be full of confidence having been able to match Wong Choong Hann.

Yesterday in Fox Sports news showed a bit of the finals. The impression from this short footage is PG won very well. He defended well and moved PR around the court. ZN vs CM was a different story. It seems that CM lost the match from her own unforced errors. There were 3 to 4 rallies, either CM keeping pressure on ZH or sending the shuttle out. Mens doubles not showing much only part last rally and seeing CW and SG winning the match. That's all folks for badminton coverage. Not bad that Fox Sports chose to show even a little bit - about a minute. And considering they show mostly football, rugby, cricket and tennis.
