Shandong team? From my hometown ler. Haha... Too late to read this thread. Any video or pictures taken? Btw, do you know more about Shandong team regarding this trip to Singapore? Thanks.
this SBA is wasting tax payers money , the main team is in India for Asian championship. using B team to play against Shandong. waste money to invite people. give them 100 years also cannot make it.
I don't really agree with the way Singapore promote the badminton sports. Why they spend so much money to poach fringed players from China and Indonesia while they never have a systematic training system for the local kids? I realised that there is even no proper badminton class in Singapore. Why they never build proper and sufficient badminton halls with nice rubber courts, standard height of nets and non-windy hall? Why the online booking system is so lousy? Why they spend money on friendly matches while they can't even provide the basic things like above?
I tend to agree with ck1981 on this. However, this is very much a social aspect of how Singapore is shaped. Being a small country focusing much on human resources, everyone's mindset is focused on academic results. Being super good in sports does not give you a competitive advantage over the scholars of Singapore. Therefore, many parents will not encourage sending kids to sports school and stuff like that. One major problem in sports development of Singapore.
Yeah, I see the same too. However, talking about the scholars, if we use the recent huge losses made by GIC scholars when investing in western markets as judgement, I think the academic system in Singapore has loopholes as many as their sports system too. They are not good in academic or sports either. I think the Singaporeans lack the determination of Japanese, the creativity of US, the speed of Hongkong and the adaptability of Malaysia Chinese. The current academic and sports systems can only build average but not exceptional Singaporeans. The government should really brainstorm and tackle these issues as soon as possible.
I think it will be impossible to catch up with the rest of the world.. mainly because of one reason, we are not as united. Because we are not homogenous like the well established country with deep culture roots like Japan.
It's not about united, it's mainly because all decisions are made by scholars, who knew nothing about the real world but can only study and get good results. We all know that in the real world, most of the things are never taught in text book.
what does a scholar in SG know? sometime i think some scholar are more stupid than non scholar. They think they have the best knowledge written from books.
