    Hi

Has anyone used both nbg95 & 98? what are your views in terms of 98's durability, power, feel and grip on the shuttle compared to the 95?

I've been using nbg95 since it was released and am generally very pleased with it. I've nearly finished my coil of 95 and am considering buying a 200m coil of 98 because it's cheaper than buying individual packets.

i know what yonex claims about 95 and 98 but I'd like to know the views of anyone who has actually used or are currently using both strings.

my main concern is 98's durability as i have my rackets strung at 30-32lbs. shall i stick with 95 or try 98?

thanks in advance for any advice!

    What's your racket type?

for nbg 98 you can say it's a bg-66 exclusive edition. more repulsive than bg-66, more comfort and crispier hitting feeling. generally very pleasing when used. durability is similiar to bg-80

nbg95, ultra-durable, same or even a little more durable than bg65 and provide nice repulsion
i think it's a more repulsive version of bg65 without losing the durability. but nbg95's hitting feeling is losing to nbg98. it's kinda empty when you hit the birdie hard

    thanks..

    i use arc z slash,10 and ns9900

ahh u said 98's durability is similar to bg80. ive used the 80 it snapped very often and not from mis hits...

but being a stronger string in general surely it must last longer than bg80? anyone else has a view about 98's durability especially if strung to about 30lbs?

I've used 98 many times for about a year now at 26lbs on 900p. It's more durable than BG66 but has many similar qualities, great for smashing.
I find 95 on the dull side, not as sharp and the feeling is not that great. It's definately more durable than 98 though. I prefer this string for drilling and control.

NBG 95 hands down. I tried 98 and i feel it was more of power. But really most of the people just need a good string which is nbg 95,or bg 65.

ah ic thanks for useful the feedback

i knew for sure that the 98 would have a sharper feeling on impact as it's thinner than the 95...

i think i'll stick with the 95 as it's cheaper than the 98 but i'll have it strung at a slightly higher tension to compensate for the relatively dull feeling as compared to the 98. thicker strings have more feeling at higher tensions and as i have them normally strung at 29lbs increasing it to 32 should b more than enough..

    thanks all

    hey wai!
im getting a reel of ng98 for W&D or hong kong. il let u know how it goes. ng95 is the only one i find i can use for a long time without worrying about it fraying or snapping. hopefully ng98 with it being thinner will give better feeling, more power, similar control, and at least 2/3rds of durability!

but il let u know la. playing like 10-12 national tournaments next year so il tell u how many i snap! lol.

    hahaha ray..

yea i was thinkin to get a 200m reel of 98 from w&d too but i was sceptical of it's durability. i think the 95 at a high tension is a good compromise between durability, feel and saving money!

btw tell me when ur coming over..u might b able to join me to train with one of the yap brothers with the elites. im also going to malaysia for badminton training camp in the summer with the other yap. so lookin forward to it!!!

W&D don't have the reel of 98 in stock this week, I ended up ordering packets instead but they come out to be 3.80 I think with 5% if you meet the minimum order, 95's are 3.70.

I have the 98 in stock. Are W&D selling it for £58 + VAT? So £68.15? I cant quite beat that price for one reel but can for multiples. 1 Reel = £70, 2 Reels or more £65 each + postage.

they definitely do as i've ordered some stringing stuff with them

if you have the catalogue, wondering if you could help me out. do they have bulk prices on string? I'm looking at BG65, 66, 80,85 NBG95 and 98.

actually, if you could scan a copy of the catalogue that would be great. if its not too much trouble of course ;)

other than the stringing price, the cost of strings are much lower in UK than US.

the UK catalogue is already out, I have it with me at the moment, and it had no price for strings. BG85, is not coming to the UK, and NBG98 will be slightly more than NBG95, BG65 will be the cheapest and BG66 will be around the same price as BG80 if not slightly cheaper.

mmm, for 200-m reel, I saw the price goes as following:

    BG65=BG66 < NBG98 < BG80 < NBG95.

for 10-m package, the prices go as following:

    BG65 < NBG98 < BG66 = BG80 < NBG95.
