Hey guys, I'm sure you're all tired of seeing these kinds of posts , but I need help choosing a racket. Heres some of my backround info... I am a beginning player, but I feel that I have all the fundamentals down and am pretty solid. I've been using a fake Yonex racket (the ones you find on Ebay) for quite a while now, probably a little over a year. I like to smash an average amount, feel that I am an all around player, and like both singles and doubles equally. I take lessons, and my teacher said that I was progressing and that he could get me an advanced MMOA racket from taiwan for 80 dollars. Should I get the MMOA which would hopefully last me a long time, or get a 40 dollar beginner racket? I was looking into Yonex's Muscle power 5 or 7. Also if you guys could reccomend rackets, that would be great.

If you trust your coach, you should follow his instruction.
A racket can lasts you for many years, therefore no point to buy a cheap one.
Too cheap or too heavy may cause you have bad habit on certain swing angle or method.

i think yonex muscle power 5 or 7 is not worth buying.

look @ low/mid range armortec or nanospeed line up.
    armortec30/50/70mega | nanospeed 500/800/850
all good rackets for intermediate player they all cost less than 100 dollar.

some will say yonex made in taiwan is not worth buying but almost all of the yonex made in japan cost more than 100 dollar price range.

i agree with ralph_lee i would invest on good racket vs buying cheap ones.

you can also get other brand for much less and they are just as good.

Thanks for your reccomendations! I will see what my coach has to offer - he said he would have the rackets in by this weekend, so I'll try them out. If they are not to my liking, I'll look into say an armortec 30.

Don't forget rackets like Apacs, Panda Power... etc.

I'd take an Apacs 900 Power for $70 over any cheap yonex racket.

Where do you buy Apacs? I've heard about them, but I can't find the 900 Power you're talking about. I tried searching "apacs badminton" on google and apacscanada.com showed up. I don't see the 900 Power under rackets :crying:

try ebay or from asian country LOL
as far as apacs vs yonex made in taiwan. i had a lot of issues with clone apacs ; every time i hit i feel vibration, other than that they are pretty decent racket.

also i figure buying low-mid end yonex you have more chances selling them in the future vs apacs.

Thanks guys! I'm now trying to decide between a Muscle power 22 ($79) or an APACS 900 Power. Which? It's a tough choice.

I've already stated but will again... apacs. Yonex low end rackets are just not good value.

Think of it this way... the old BMW 318, while cheap was.... cheap! BMW, great cars overall (if a bit over priced) but the 318 was a POS even if it had the BMW badge on it. Same thing with Yonex low end rackets, Yonex makes some great rackets but their low end ones are just not worth it in comparison to other less known brands at the same price.

and the Apacs Nano Power 900 Red/White is like a VW, it's well built, and has all the same parts as an Audi, but it's cheaper, and better value for money.
Only problem with Apacs rackets, ( and this doesn't apply to VWs btw:D) the Balance point specs for the Apacs rackets can be off sometimes.

remember to ask if they could get you one of your specs...

and remember to expect some vibrations with the apacs!

since TS plays double as well, there's always high chance racket will clash by accidents. i would recommend having 2 rackets. 1 for precious single plays and 1 for double play

    That`s easy;try the classic ones.
*Oval head---You feel the sweet spot accurately.
*The longgest ones which is :68cm---maximum swing power
    *Weight:3U
    *Even balance
    *Flexibility:Medium
    *Handle:G4
    *String:Natural material,starting at 18 pounds(feather)/20 pounds(plastic birds)
    *High modulus graphite
*One hundred and fifty dollars, somewhere around there.
When you go up to another level, try something lighter4u,ISO head, shorter 67.5cm,synthetic strings, higher tension22,24,26,smaller hang grip like g5 ,two hundred and fifty dollars something rackets.
Rackets for traning purpose don`t last long,a year or two tops from my experience. For recreational purpose you can buy just about any kind you like.
