I'm relatively new to badminton and have purchased a racket. I have been playing with it a couple of times a week for about three weeks. During my last game I noticed that the strings moved siginificantly and I had to adjust them on about four or five times during each game. Does this mean that the racket needs to be restrung? If so does it need to be strung with a higher or lower tension? Any info would be much appreciated.

How significant is the string movement? It is not uncommon for strings to move, and doesn't necessarily mean the racket needs to be restrung.

However, if you've only noticed it in your last game + never had this before, my guess is the factory strings that came with the racket needs changing - given you've played several times/wk for 3 wks now.

21 pounds would be a good tension for a beginner. Have fun playing!

No, the only time you'll need to restring is if you break the string naturally.
if you just cut it your self then that would be a waste of string

It is quite signifcant about four or five strings moving and needing to be readjusted. Last time I played it was needing adjusted after every four or five points.

the above comments are good. you should stop worrying about your strings and focus on playing :p If it's really bothering you, then it's just a question if you want to spend the money on restringing or not. The suggested 21 pounds will still have strings move so it's something to expect anyway at low tensions.

you guys really have no idea how much o stringing cost in UK! typically, around 20-25 fUKP (30-40 USD) down where i live. I even got quote from a posh shop for 35 UKP (55 USD) for a 'good' string.
