hey people out there that have tried both rssmusen (original) and the AS-l.. can you give an opinion amongst which racket is better and and what's the better feature? yes i'm trying to buy a racket tha tis same or similiar to the carlton rassmussen.. but can' seem to find another one. anyone have any suggestion of which racket is most similiar to the carlton rassmusen?
I'd say As1 is close but not in all aspects. It is stiffer and more light-headed. Maybe AsTi is closer 2 Rassm. than As1.
I've just talked to Michael Helber, who used to be a professional player in international tournaments and is a former member of the german national team. He now works for Carlton Germany and stated, that regarding weight and balance the AS-1 is the successor of the Rasmussen and the AS-Ti is the successor of the AB-2000 (only flex and aerodynamic is a little bit different). The weight of all 4 rackets are about 89g, but the AB-2000/AS-Ti have titanium parts and are more head heavy than Rasmussen/AS-1.
Thanks Olli, could you find out if there is a similar succession from the AS-1 and AS-Ti into the new Megaflex F1, F2, F3 range? regards, Neil
hm... seems like as-l is a racket that suits me.. but again after hearing that.. the as-ti makes me crave for it
Carlton website says that Rasmussen is based on the 2000 to help fix the issues Peter (you guessed who) had with the 2000. Difference being the balance point was 5mm closer and the racquet gained a few (4) grams weight. We also know that ASTi is a relative of the 2000. I would say that the lineage was thus broken and Rasmussen was a spin off from the Carlton flagship production line. No idea about the AS1 lineage guys.
rasmussen.. just got a rasmussen.. and strung it with bg 80 string at 23lb ..just got my chance to realy tryout this racket.. the power is relaly god but then the feeling or the response from your shots is pretty horrible.. it feels like hits solid wood. so i have kinda poor control because i dont' know how much power i need in a shot.. to make it perfect or better. is it because of the tension im string it at?
We'd better ask Mag. She tried all the Carlton lines I presume... 2 x-er -> Maybe practice will help? Just have to get used...
At www.comido.de they are now selling the Carlton Airblade 2000 for only 59,90 Euro. As above stated, the racket is quiet similiar to the Rasmussen except for the balance ( slightly more head heavy, with titanium frame).
I like how everyone seems to think Mag is a woman Mag, maybe you have a really effeminate style that comes out in your posting I also don't understand the comment about him using Carltons either.
oops Oops... 8))))))) I'm sorry... Mag is a short form of Margaret, so I was pretty sure... Furthermore I come here very seldom and still not quite tuned in... No offence, ok? There was several postings a year or even more ago about Carltons from him, so it was clear that nearly all of their raquets were seen and tested... And last year spring there was a remark about thier new line (he bought F1 somewhere in Germany to try)... So...
just 2 add But didn't mean anthng special about it. Just an opinion of a person who tried all the raquets in question (he posted several messages about Carltons a year ago and during last spring). But frankly speaking I don't much care whether AsTi or As1 is the successor of Rasmussen. I like both... 8)
... ok.. tried it out more.. i got a littl more control.. think i'm adapting to the racket. but one problems stil having is the response you get when you make contact withthe bird. the small vibration...aka.."feel"...does this mean the racket won't have it or just the string i'm using..
I think that's normal. Personally I like this slight quiver - the feeling of the working raquet... Almost feel that it's alive.
You could hardly hit the shuttle across the court in a high clear if you miss the sweet spot. Yet when I do this (or when I smash) I always feel a small "wince" my As1 gives me (BTW AsTi - less, dunno why). The sound is good and we (my partner and I) can sometimes keep an AS-20 whole for half-a-game or a whole game though hitting smashes and clears. Always mishitting? Hmm... Doubt it. I thought this happened because racket deformed a little during the hit and when returning to its normal form released accumulated energy to the handle (not all of it goes to the shuttle). But I don't insist, of course, this could be a mistake of mine - got a lot of problems with technique... You too then, x-er.
