Hi, well i thought id do a bit of research and get some opinions. when you go online to buy anything badminton related on a badminton website what would you like from the website itself ie layout not actual items so any ideas suggestions and thoughts welcomed just post them there isnt a wrong answer Noppy
easy access to customer service. I find myself asking alot of question when i order online. ex. tax, shipping, other possible tensions, other strings, new shipment of a certain item.
1) Straightforward layout. Contents should be easily to navigate. 2) Contact information obvious as possible (once the darn "contact us" hyperlink is found, it shouldn't be impossible to see where in the world the shop is) 3) Simple explanation of ordering, extra costs and shipping. 4) And ...as much English as possible. (In other words, design the site assuming that the average customer is tired, in a hurry and has an IQ of 75)
But consider most of the badminton population speaks CHN instead of ENG, isn't that better to be "as much CHN as possible" to draw more potential customers?
I want the navigation to be simple and effective. Give me an easy way to sort through large numbers of products with a minimum of clicks. Show me the damn price up front. Do not hide it under "£BEST" or "add to trolley to see our best price" (I'm looking at you, Central Sports). For clothes, I want detailed sizing information that reassures me I know what I'm getting. And proper photographs of the product please -- none of those line-drawings. Clicking on a photo should get me a big version. I want clear information about shipping costs up-front. Don't make me get to the checkout before telling me you don't ship outside Poland... I want the site to be fast and responsive. Get those page load times under 2 seconds. And of course, I want the site to work on my browser. I don't want to see a broken layout just because the tool who designed it has never heard of Chrome and thinks the Internet is "the blue E". Along those lines, I resent anything that tries to take control of my browser, such as those moronic "Right-clicking has been disabled" javascript abuses, or opening pages in a new window/tab.
thanks for all the input from everyone seems everything on here can be met just some pursuading for me to do now. Anyway keep the ideas coming
Good points from the (obviously frustrated) authour of the Badminton Bible. btw here's a site for you Gollum: http://www.angermanage.co.uk/how-to-control-anger/keep-cool.html;)
Broken link for added blood pressure! I like the acronym for the British Association of Anger Management. They also have an apt colour scheme.
It's always handy to separate products not just by type (rackets, strings, shoes, clothing) but also by brand. I hate a website that has a tab that says: -rackets(208)
