Up-and-Rising Young Players of the Month / Year

young players are emerging from time to time, shall we have a continuous monitoring / discussion (and maybe a continuous poll) on them according to their performence in a collective manner here?

right now, some of them have made some impacts (in non-junior competitions) and drawn our attention (e.g. beating top players, entering finals in major competitions) such as:

China:
MS- WZM, CL
WS- LXR
MD- ZN, CB

Denmark:
MS- JOJ

Japan:
MS- Kenichi Tago

Korea:
WS- (forgot their names...

)

there are others (like Rumbaka from Indonesia, and some Malaysian players) but not yet making a real impact, we could add when they did perform.

Young Player of the Month for March 2010:
Singles Player - Kenichi Tago
Doubles Player - Zhang Nan

Young Player of the Month for April 2010:
Singles Player - Wang ZhengMing, JOJ

you could just do one for each yr, say this thread is for 2010...then for next yr, do another thread...and so on rather than lump all of them from year to year in 1 single thread..

we need to establish the definition of 'young' players, 18? 20?
JOJ (DEN) is 22 and been playing in the circuit since 2005! spring chicken he certainly ain't!

Wang Zhengming has potential but I'm not sure whether he would get as many chances in GP this year. Otherwise we'll just probably see him in the China Masters and Super Series. As for Tago Kenichi, we will be seeing him often as he is Japan's best men single's player. For Jan O' Jorgensen, sure, he was impressive last year but this year, I would be surprised if he managed to beat Lee Chong Wei again or even scratch Lin Dan. As for the doubles, Zhang Nan is decent enough in both MD and XD. 100th AE for mixed doubles in his belt already! And German Open title for his MD.

IMO,

so far i have seen on you tube the safest bet on future MS champs are CL and Hayom. Im not yet convinced with WZM.

I'm not counting Chen Long or JOJ because they have made their impact last year. Time to move on to some players we should try to take note of this year, one from each country :

China : Wang Zhengming
Indonesia : Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka
Malaysia : Mak Hee Chun & Tan Wee Kiong
Korea : Bae Yoon Joo
Denmark : Sorry...cannot think of one. Viktor Axelsen needs some time before he makes a debut at the senior stage. (TC counted?)

We won't get to see much of Wang Zhengming and Mak/Tan this year. Hayom and Bae should be found in Super Series.

Among all these, I think the ones I have mentioned who have not made any impact whatsoever is Mak/Tan, but I think they are the most decent among the backups who are still around 21. Therefore, them over Men Single players!

And Chai/Zhang is a must to watch out for.
