..Buenas noches los chicos y chicas...yes, i made it here alive...*phew*

Arrived late at the hotel, checked in and tried to go to the stadium. But by the time i arrived, everyone had emptied out. There were a few kids milling around outside, but the venue was basically empty.

There was a security guard all dressed in military uniform outside the stadium. Talk about security, he had this huge automatic rifle on stand by...

Anyway, only took these pics...The place, i would say would fit about 1000-2000 people. The court layout is a strange one as the spectators would only be able to watch the matches from the sides. There are no seatings at all facing the front or back of the players...:confused:.

Inside the stadium (Domo de Code Jalisco). The venue is part of a sports complex called Code Jalisco.

    ..more tomorrow...

Cool ! chris ! U make it to Mexico !
What is the event going to be held at the same venue on 2011? I read they got wrote in a huge banner all around the courts there as something like "Rumba 2011" ?
Or is that Brazilian type of SAMBA festival ? :p

Btw, hopefully they'll change the layout of the courts for the Semis and Finals. It will be quite a sore sight for those fans who want to watch...:(

There's an English version in pic #4, it's read "Road to Guadalajara 2011".
Should be refer to 16th Pan American Games. Guadalajara was the only city to officially bid for the 2011 Pan American Games

Looks pretty smart. I guess they arrange the seating like that so people can at least see all courts? otherwise one side an only see er, one side.

any video/pics from outside? looks an interesting shape from outside. What is it used for normally?

..yes, i asked one of the personnel there and he told me "Rumbao" means "Road to"..
..i finally watched him play. Personally, i don't see much special in him. I know he has a big smash and all and he yells really loud..
    - I guess the venue's layout wouldn't allow a six-courts configuration all laid out across. Thus they had to rearrange to have them split in such a manner.
However, from what i gathered, they'll re-arrange the courts layout, to a normal orientation, for the Finals Day as there will only be a few matches.
Today's (Semifinals Day) schedule is still full, so they won't change the layout.
    - The roof is multi-sided. The building itself is round. I have a pic of it in the other thread.
    - It is used normally for basketball event or volleyball event. After this WJC tourney, they'll hold the Mexico National Games in Guadalajara and they will use this same Dome venue to hold the baddy event.
..i wanted to meet someone there, but the person had left.

The name of the stadium itself, which translates to "state board to promote sportsmanship jalisco"

They posted the schedules and matches on the glass & glass door..

Some press personnel..I recall there were at least 2 photographers..But for some reason, they were all sitting atop the seating areas..

I saw this machine but i don't know if this is the official stringing booth or not..and the guy did the stringing, literally, in the dark..

These are what i called authentic Mexican tacos (fish, beef and chicken) which i chowed down during the day!!...they're so good!..and reasonably cheap too..they cost between $2-$3 for 4 pieces (sorry, i bought 7 of 'em cos i was so hungry)..

I can't resist taking pics of these 3 Korean players...they were sitting on the other side of the bleachers where the players are sitting and they were making these rhythmic clapping sounds for their teammates..the one sitting on the right looks like Lee Yong Dae..

The matches (QF Day) - part 1

The matches - Part 1..The place was about 80 percent full in capacity on QF Day.. But at least 75% of them were filled with players & their friends/family members..
Btw, the event is FREE to the public. No tickets are necessary.
