Unfortunately, it is easier to add weight than to reduce weight. Adding extra overgrip to the handle will shift the bp by 5-10mm, but will not significantly affect the swing weight of the racket because the weight of the head is the critical part of the racket that is subject to the most acceleration and momentum forces, while the handle remains the pivot. About the only thing you can do is to use thinner strings.
I think it may be more complicated than just adding another layer of grip. A head heavy racket is designed with the head heavier than the rest of the body at about 290/300mm bp. We all agree that if we to put a layer of grip and balance it, the bp will move downwards to about 275mm more or less. But this is just balancing the racket. In real life, we are holding the racket at the handle and the shift in weight if any is different from when we are just balancing it by a thread or a cd cover. This is further complicated by the fact that some of us like to hold it right to the handle's end whereas others at its mid section and some even higher up. I think it may have to do with the thickness of the grip and not so much because of the weight of the grip as with a thicker grip, the hand has now a bigger area to grip the racket's handle, this as a result makes the racket feels more balance in one's hand.
Can't be done, I'm afraid. You can make the balance point more head-light by adding weight at the handle (as already suggested), but that won't make the racket swing any lighter/faster because the swing weight is still exactly the same. You'll just have to buy a new racket if your current one is too heavy.
sanding off would destroy the paintwork on the racket dont you think? if it were me I'd consider saving up and get myself a headlight racket lol.
why did you buy it ? You should have bought a even balanced racket, then you can add weight from there. The only thing you can really do, is to buy a new racket.
I would tend to agree with that statement - swingweight cannot be reduced in the real world. However, I have heard that some people have found that adding weight to the bottom of the handle makes their rackets feel more manoeuvrable. Of course, I don't pretend that this is in any way scientific and it may be down to the placebo effect. Then again, if you tried it and due to placebo effect and nothing else, you found your racket easier to use, you would still have solved your problem. I'm definitely not saying that adding weight to the handle will make your racket more manoeuvrable because the science suggests that it won't. The opinions of people in the real world suggest that it might and whatever you use to add weight won't be expensive so why not give it a go?
If you hold the racket higher up the handle, it will feel lighter and more maneuverable. You could always force yourself to do that, by sawing an inch off the end (preferably the end nearest the shaft, becaue you'd still want the thicker butt) or by making it uncomfortable to grip lower down (maybe remove the grip from the end of the handle, leaving bare wood - like one of the pro players does, except for the other way around).
