i was just wondering whether there are any connections between these two sports?...........to be specific, can swimming improve my play in badminton or is it really just to maintain your fitness?
hi im into badminton already, plan to start swimming this week... in my point of view, it will certainly benefit your endurance in badminton when you start swimming
Pare, definitly endurance (So you have enough stamina to last through those long doubles games) pero also muscle strength and cardio-vascular fitness.
actually when i was younger i did swimming lessons but the things that only registered in my mind was the fact that i removed the fear of deep waters, basic breathing and floating......then after a while i just tried to copy people swimming made some experiments and i ended up doing freestyle breaststroke, etc. hahaha is very easy for me to swim since we have a condominium pool.
I'm a competitive swimmer myself, badminton's just a secondary sport. I honestly don't know if swimming improves my badminton in any way, as I started swimming before badminton. I can tell you that badminton, for me, requires a whole lot of stamina to maintain, especially against stronger opponents whose life goals are to make you run around the court. As well, badminton requires strong mental focus to keep cool under pressure and to predict tricks and adjust from offensive and defensive play. Swimming...enhances your cardio, makes your body hurt in more places than you can count, though once you got every single aspect of your technique nailed down and habitual, it's all downhill from there.
good for you... right now, i would like to develop my endurance as a middle aged person, it is safe to say that ive reach a certain milestone in badminton but my endurance is questionable... thats my main concern in swimming...
swimming is the BEST way to exercise, that's what i've been told, and that's wat I believe too. =) Stamina, tone ur muscle, (looks small but incredible strong) that's what I like. But I'm afraid of water =) No just kidding I dont really have the access for swimming, I dont like going to clubs filled with hundred of all kind of people in there. At home? No no pool friend's house? yea but they dont swim, I dont like to swim alone. NOW THAT my friend i'm scared of that I can't swim alone =(
now that my friend is a problem! hmmm if your really determined all this fear and things that discourages you would be gone. so why not ask yourself "am I going to do this for fitness and badminton improvement or i just let it go and not try at all" hope it helps!
lol I dont think that's help kakak I rather do other stuffs, push up, pull up, eat right wait no no, I can't eat right, I don't really eat at the right time, due to lack of knowledge how to cook. =) yea well anyway i just wanted to answer the question swimming is really good for badminton, well overall don't turn into me and making me do things that I CAN'T DO hehe jk
My 2 cents lah.. Hmm... I've been swimming and playing badminton for very long time la... From my POV, I think swimming is an excellent sport for promoting overall strength and cardiovascular fitness, while lengthening and toning the muscles all around the body, which would be very good for the muscles and general fitness. In addition, it is non-impact, and the water acts as a coolant - enabling a more efficient muscle workout (before the sweatiness kicks in, haha ). The ONLY thing that might be a disadvantage from swimming is the lack for plyometric speed and explosiveness (essential in badminton).. you are doing the same pulling motions over and over again - which tones the muscle for sure (strength), but does not require much explosiveness/power. I'm thinking that your muscles might slow down if you are doing JUST swimming (correct me if my scientific opinion is incorrect...), but as long as you are playing badminton and doing explosiveness plyometric work alongside to let the muscles adjust back to the explosive nature, swimming is a great exercise to have alongside. All the best lah.. ^^
uh i dont think swimming works well with badminton? Because when i go swim and then sometime later i play badminton i feel like my form is off because we have to use different forms for different sports and ..well for i find it difficult to switch around haha well that's me but other than that swimming can be good muscle endurance =D it's like jogging but no impact less pain
