    as the title says.

I personally find I play better with white strings is there a difference in lets say diameter with coloured or is it just personal preference.

    Cheers

Actually, my stringer tells me the white strings are slightly more durable than coloured ones. Apart from that, I don't think there's any performance advantage.

It depends. Some people feel different, some don't, just like the grip.

It is true with Yonex string. There are two ways to make color strings. One is you get white string first then dye them. Dying nylon needs heat, the darker the color the longer you need to heat them. The heating process may weak the nylon.

Another way is you make colored nylon then weavn them to string. The color is added when you make nylon. The string made this way does not matter what color is , they all have same strength. Most ashaway strings are made this way.

Its just that I have heard that coloured strings like Zymax tend to be grippier than there white alternative

For cars, the color is purely cosmetic, which should have no impact on performance, as you are using the painted surface against the road. For strings, the color (due to different dye method) is actually part of the string itself, which means it affect the friction in between surfaces, which may impact the feeling.

Personally, I feel black Yonex strings is more slippery than other colors.

I have played extensively with the 3 different colours of Zymax strings and I can find no difference at all. The difference in tension, racquet, machines and even differences in the same racquet and the same tensions, all will in various ways affect the feel slightly. Some of my racquets with the ZM platinum plays better than the ivory ZM; some with the ivory ZM play better than the platinum ZM.
It is all in your hand, not in the colours.

Actually the opposite here in the US (with respect to ZyMax string). White ZM has the most grip, plays the best and lasts the longest.

With respect to string in general, white or natural color in every instance (except BG70Pro), this Panda can think of plays the best.

From Personal experience.. White and Natural color gut plays the best in terms of durability and feel compare with other colors of the same string model.

I've tried using colors from Black,Blue,Yellow,Red and even Pink. I still prefer the White/Natural color.

Forgot to mention, with respect to BG-70Pro, the red, when compared the white is visually thinner side by side, it plays much more repulsive and responsive. Last time Panda tried 70Pro in white, it was thick, a rather numb and uninspiring. In red it's a real winner.

To further confuse things, the red was SP Code and the white was US Code which is supposedly superior. So, go figure. :p

Panda as well, has tried every color of every string Panda can get his paws on, multiple times. White and/or natural still performs best overall.

Sometimes it's minor, some times it's very noticeable.

But, if you think it doesn't makes a difference, then don't worry about it, just play with what you like best. :)

Just play with what you feel/like best

    .
    Hi David_Allan,

Some swear that coloured strings do feel better when executing power shots, like the Smash and the Clear. Personally, I find no difference.

Like earlier posters have said, just play with what you feel/like best.

The strings can give you certain feel, but IMHO they cannot give you any other advantages other than their (coloured) looks.

I only use BG65 have have done so for most years out of the last 15. I will absolutely not use the darker colours. I only accept white, natural, green. Is there a yellow colour? I'd use that as well, if so. My racquet was accidentally strung in purple a few months back (forgot to specify the colour). It was bad but I still played with them as practice racquets. Finally, got fed up and restrung the racquets before the strings broke.
