    hi everyone,

i've just joined this forum today - it seems pretty comprehensive.

i'm thinking of going to the world championships in birmingham in 2003.

has anybody any advice for me as regards anything really.

i'm just looking for general information....ill stay for the whole week and get to see it all.

anyway, i'd appreciate it if one or two of you could suggest one or two things like:

would there be an opportunity for me to play during my stay in birmingham?
how many matches go on every day, how may courts?
    etc...

    thanks,
    ronan (cork, ireland)

    Play in Bham

    Hi,

Do you mean can you play on the courts when there are not matches in procession? To my knowledge it is not possible. Even when there are non competitive matches in play there are sometimes exhibition matches and other programmes.

For more information, try www.baofe.co.uk the badminton association of England.

    should i go?

    thanks for that reply.

i guess in a nutshell i'm just wondering wether it would be a good event to go to.

it sounds fantastic but i just wanna get your opinions on it.

plus, anyone from england or further afield who plans on going who would like to meet up when we get over there in may?

    thanks,
    ronan

    madrarua,

Birmingham is a fantastic city. There is a huge selection of things to do - restuarants, cinemas, bars, night clubs, art galleries, sports, etc - to fill the time between the badminton matches.

There is plenty of accomodation to suit any budget. I would recommend you make the trip. Also, I think you can fly cork->birmingham direct.

Finally, if you do go, be sure to try a Balti at one of the many Indian restaurants. They are truly delicious!

    Balti

Thanks a million for that Tim.

I'm really looking forward to it. The Balti i mean, not the badminton.

    Take care,
    ronan
