    Hi everyone

I've recently been given a racket of which I know nothing about and can't find any referance to it online.

Its Yonex and on the shaft says RY-900, FULL CARBON SHAFT

On the head, it has the word Rexplay. It also carrys the old yonex logo.

I wonder if anyone knows anything about this racket ? Age, weight, original price, full/different name, what rexplay is, etc...

It has a grip over the cone and handle and I'm not keen on taking it off, might there be something of value on it ?

    Thanks in advance

i remember it, i think it's a cab frame yonex, it's a 1 year model i think. Maybe yonex was trying out a side model of carbonex line, like NC Tuff now. Think of it as a mid line yonex cab.

Thanks for replying to my request for help.

I'll uploaded a couple of pictures showing it when I get back home in a few hours.

Its a very light racket and feels very similar in weight and play to my current arcsaber9 racket.

    ?

    Cheers
    Jake

Interesting find. I haven't heard of it before, I am sure you will get further replies, have you played with it yet?

    It looks well worn.

I swapped it for a fairly new armotec 800.

A friend said it was an aerotus 80, but I dismissed that idea.

When I play with it feels very similar to my arcsaber9 which surprised me. The strings must be around 18/19Ibs now as it has the orignal strings on.

I welcome anymore question and information

Hoping for a valuable antique find?:D

I would doubt they are the orignal strings, especially not factory strings. The stirng pattern on the bottom crosses would not be a factory finish & looking at the wear the racket appears to have at least on the T Joint any strings wouldbe broken by now.

    Ry 900

Could it be a pre-serie of an old carbonex 9 (80's).

    There's also the RY-700

    and RY-800

Can't remember seeing one. The font used looks a bit like Widebody 30 if I remember correctly (can't find a pic right now). Guessing late 80's to early 90's? Use of an external t-joint doesn't really point to high-end around that timetable. The use of gradient colouring would also point to a later than 80's model imo. On the cone you would find the sticker denoting the specs (weight+gripsize) and possibly the model number like B-8100 for example. RY must be Rexplay then ...

Definitely not an Aerotus 80

Been trying to find this little booklet that had Cab20 and such in it for a while now but no luck so far. Will scan and post it should I luck out and manage to find it.

Other than being the original one nothing much. The booklet is from around the time period mentioned above, late 80's probably '89/'90. It's like a little brochure with all the models and a few players pictured. I had it stored in a certain location for years but at one point have been clearing up and no idea where it is now ...

Hey Cooler, very good reply there.

I've undone the grip tape, but there's nothing on the cone left apart from some white bits were something at one time was, a logo perhaps.

I'd not found that RY-700/800 info which was good.

I swapped as it felt better than the armortec I had. As mention above, its very light and plays rather similar to my arcsaber9 which I couldn't under stand.

Thanks everyone so far :D, I hope to get more information in the next few days

    Cheers
    Jake
