it will be sad day for badminton if Lin Dan retire because no youngster has reach his level yet, badminton will fall into oblivion... similar to the time when Jordan retire from basketball

I predict that LD will retire after OG and LCW will continue you for 1 more year to collect his first WC title and call it an end.

Maybe 'LCW will continue you for 1 more year to TRY TO collect his first WC title and call it an end' but by then, it could be CJ time to shine or someone from CHN

    .
World No.1 Lee Chong Wei announced today (Saturday 02-April-2011) he will call it quit after the 2012 London Olympics.

    Source: http://my.news.yahoo.com/chong-wei-s...72906-685.html

"I want to give the young players the opportunity to play and make a name
for themselves and the country," he told reporters here.

He also welcomed Datuk Misbun Sidek''s decision to return to the national
team after announcing abruptly in January that he had resigned from the post.

Chong Wei said Misbun''s decision was a wise move.

"He will be able to train and unearth new talents from the back-up squad.

With his experience, I''m confident he can find my replacement," said Chong Wei,
adding that Misbun had a good insight of the game and able to provide good
    guidance to the players.

Misbun announced yesterday (Friday 01-April-2011) that he would return to the national team (BAM).

there was a brief moment on commentary that lcw will retire after the olympics and that he said next year may be his last all england.
Lin Dan i think will definitely retire after the olympics as he has won everything on the circuit. Taufik and Peter will also probably give it one last try at the olympics purely because they can.

lin dan, chong wei, peter gade and taufik hidayat will retire together after olympic 2012.....great chances to younger player eg chen jin, chen long, simon santoso, kenichi tago and Nguyen Tien Minh to be the top rank player.

    .
Unfortunately, with their age and with much injury that both Chen Jin and Simon Santoso have carried over the years, I feel that these 2 might miss out getting into our WORLD TOP 3 rankings.

But of course I could be wrong.

If LCW really schedules to retire after OG12, then WC11 and OG12 are the last chances for his very top tier achievement...

    .
And it looks like LCW can finish on a strong note.

I wonder how many sportspersons (including all sports) have retired ranking as World No.1 in their sports?
