Looking at Joseph's thread about "bad habits"..it gave me an idea to put up a thread about "badminton supersititions and routines." Saying this, I'm wondering what kind of things (your routine) you do in a badminton game. Routine before you serve? And whether it effects your game (as a superstition)?

Well, before I serve OR recieving, I seem to always pace around just to slow the game down a bit. Uhh..before the match, I always stretch my arms (even though i'm not warm:rolleyes: ) and find that when I play, I can play better? Just a "superstition."

Uhh, yeah, so just wondering, what kind of superstitions and routines are in your game?

Hrmms...whenever playing, i always check which way the yy on the bottom of the yonex handle is pointing. If its not facing a certain way, then i sorta feel out of sync. Its something i picked up from my friend. Its just something i always do now when i play.

Sorry for sounding like an idiot but, how do you determine whether your strings are out of place? I mean it isn't like a tennis raquet where the strings are stretched aparted so it hugs either the upper line or lower line.

Whenever I miss a shot, say a drop, I usually redo the shot as if I had a second chance and think about what I did wrong (Sorry to make the game sound so stressful). ;)

My doubles partner used to say we should never ask to change the shuttle if we were on a winning streak. Even when the shuttle had like only 2 feathers left, he would still refuse to change it until we lost a point.

Unfortunately I can't remember whether this ever proved a benefit or a hindrance, but I suppose as long as it made him play better, it was OK. Placebo effect, I guess...

    Hmm...

Let's see....I've no idea what I do....let me think....taking out my watch....wearing my wristband....hmm.....checking my strings too, I guess, if I miss the shuttle or something to check what's wrong with it, lol.

my superstition - don't piss off mrs. badrad just before playing. her voodoo gets me every time. shots are total off, opponents strength triples, strategies are countered at every strike. baaddd mojo! no go there!
