Korea Open becomes the first badminton tournament to offer one million US dollars worth of prize money. Going by the past prize moneys, this is huge

and wonderful!!
Interestingly, there is considerable difference in prize between Korea Open and other "Grand Slam" tournaments.

..actually, other than the last 2 year end SSMF invitation tourneys, the Korea Open SS has been leading the way in prize money awarded for a SS event ($300k), even before this current news..If not mistaken, last yr's and this yr's Korea Open SS had the most prize money awarded than the other SS events..So, it makes sense for them to lead the way, once again..INA Open being the 2nd most prize-money awarded SS, for 2011-2013, is a bit of a surprise..
