this is the link of the official website http://www.sukma2010.com.my/night.html this is the link of badminton competition http://www.sukma2010.com.my/cbadminton.aspx this is the link of the time table http://www.sukma2010.com.my/jadual.aspx this is the link of the draw(team event only) http://www.sukma2010.com.my/draw_bad1.aspx so far there is no individual events draw there is no player list for each team there is no the actual schedule for individual and team event there is no english version even though there is a icon of english ------------------------------------------------------------------- some might think youngster doesnt get send as they participate in sukma(under 23) but then the date only clash with india open no problem with singapore open and indonesia open i cant understand why bam cant send chan peng soon/goh liu ying who are world number 17 to participate in both ss and why does mak/tan who rank higher than ong/hoon didnt get send to sgo and io too
Mak/Tan will win individual MD title. CPS is overage, no? So their main opponents that were also not sent to SS, being Chan and Lim are not there to face them. I cannot see any other MD upsetting them though, as I think the 4 decent MDs that MAS has so far is KKK/TBH, CPS/LKW, Mak/Tan and Hoon/Ong, with only Mak/Tan being here. Ow/Chooi or Ow/Yew I think cannot win Mak/Tan.
Yeah, CPS is overage, LKW can participate. Anyway, I dont think Mak/TWK will partner each other in SUKMA cos they're from different states. Dunno, I tried a few times, didnt work. Have to wait until my PC ok. Individual Finals for sure I will go. Team Finals not sure, which day you coming? 18 June?
Haha, now no more linesman. The correct is is line judge. Anyway, i'm 1 step higher than that.... hahaha! PMed u mine... take a look
Sukma is under 23.. But Peng Soon only 22(1988),so he no overage leh!! I think Mak and Tan cannot parnner..because Tan Wee Kiong is Johor player,Mak Hee Chun is no Johor player leh..
i dont think chan peng soon is only 22 he should be 24 because his original partner is 24 if cps only 22,it will be great news for malaysia but then cps is same batch with chang hun pin razif, hoon tien hou
he is really 22.. i seen his data in the Sea Game official website last year.. he brithday is 1988-03-04!! and then,he also got play sukma 2008(under21).. but this year sukma change(under 23),so i think he can play!!
National back-up squad’s shuttlers set to dominate “I have gone through a slump and I hope to get things right again in Sukma. It is another chance for me as I thought I would not get to feature for my state,” said Arif, the younger brother of national doubles player Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif. “I lost to Wei Feng in the final in the last Sukma. I will try to win it this time. The competition will be stiff as the same players are around.” The Badminton Association of Malaysia’s (BAM) junior coordinator, How Kim Tho, admitted that with the national back-up players in the fray except for Tan Chun Seang and Kuan Beng Hong, it will be tough for players like Asian championship silver medallists Iskandar Zulkarnain and Loh Wei Sheng to beat the odds. “This is the challenge they have to face. But the younger players will be under no pressure this time and hopefully, they can rise to the occasion,” he said. http://thestar.com.my/sports/story.asp?file=/2010/6/2/sports/6382370&sec=sports lol i though this was an under 18 tournament when one of the press said something yesterday
This article also mentioned Nelson Heg will partner Ow for SUKMA, the writer forgot Nelson is from Penang. Should be Yew HK partner Nelson.
SUKMA rules has changed few years back, opening the category up to under-21 or under-23, with national back-up is eligible to play.
Ya, i guess Penang will hold the advantage on MD event (on paper) Still predict who will be OYH partner in SUKMA then.... MLK under-18 boys are not as good as other states, cant notice any shining stars.
No new talent expected It will be an uphill task for world junior champions Ow Yao Han-Yew Hong Kheng to redeem themselves, worse still with different partners, after failing to shine at last week's National Junior Grand Prix Finals in Pahang. http://www.nst.com.my/nst/articles/34dbete/Article wjc md champion doesn't guaranty u victory against ur same age group at least, this happen in malaysia which is a good sign for malaysia md
The Star Online > Sports Thursday June 3, 2010 Delhi Games call-up right tonic to help Peng Soon win Sukma gold medal By LIM TEIK HUAT PETALING JAYA: Earning a call-up to the team for the New Delhi Commonwealth Games is just the right tonic for national back-up doubles player Chan Peng Soon to make a big breakthrough for Penang in Sukma. Peng Soon’s name is on a five-man team list submitted to the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) for inclusion in the Commonwealth Games, which will be held in October. Completing the cast are world No. 1 and defending men’s singles champion Lee Chong Wei, Mohd Hafiz Hashim and the top doubles pair of Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong. Peng Soon will most likely partner Hafiz as the second Malaysian men’s pair but he can also look forward to challenging for a medal in the mixed doubles as well. Goh Liu Ying, with whom he partnered to bag the Asian championship (ABC) title in Hyderabad in April, is in the women’s team along with national No. 1 Wong Mew Choo, Lydia Cheah and the top doubles pair of Chin Eei Hui-Wong Pei Tty. Each country can name a maximum of five men and five women for the Commonwealth Games badminton competitions. Peng Soon, who partnered Lim Khim Wah to bag the Thailand Open crown last year, can hardly believe his luck when informed of his surprise inclusion yesterday. “I never expected this. I have not been in the national set-up for a long time and there are also many experienced players. It’s a real boost to my career,” said Peng Soon, who is coached by Rosman Razak. In the meantime, the 21-year-old’s focus is on Sukma where he hopes to help Penang end their wait for an elusive gold medal. Penang have not had a Sukma champion and even Chong Wei was not able to pull it off for them in the early years of his blooming career. Chong Wei reached the final in the 2002 edition in Kota Kinabalu but lost to Hafiz. “My best performance so far was when I partnered Chang Hun Pin for a silver medal finish in the 2006 Sukma in Alor Setar. I managed a bronze with Raymond Koh at the last Games in Terengganu,” said Peng Soon. “I am now in Penang training with the squad. It will still be stiff competition as the back-up players are there even though we will be playing with different partners.” Peng Soon will probably pair up with Yew Hong Kheng, who won the world junior championship gold medal partnering Malacca’s Ow Yao Han in Mexico in April. And Penang will be hopeful that their pair will reap success this time. http://thestar.com.my/services/printerfriendly.asp?file=/2010/6/3/sports/6389741.asp&sec=sports Ohh, CPS can participate SUKMA, means he not yet 23, when his birth date? Limsy, I think CPS one year younger than previous partners CHang Hun Pin & Ooi YH, they are 24. I remember asking Ooi about it & she said CPS is younger than her.
