FLYPOWER Warriors 8 - review

First of all, thank you to ants for providing the review template. This will be my first review thread so please feel free to let me know if anything is not right.

Quick intro, the Flypower Warriors series is assigned to be used by Hendra Setiawan. At the last AE he used Warriors 7. The company it self was founded by ex-INA players, here the web:

Got this racket a few weeks ago. At first I did not notice anything stand out for the paint work, but when I took a closer look its actually painted 3D. I never seen it on any racket before and I don’t know how to really descript it how it looks like, so I will post photos later on. It looks a bit like snake’s skin.

The next thing I noticed while swinging (no birdie) the racket, it does not have that nice whipping feel or sound commonly in attribute with YY. It feels empty. And I’m sure its not because the string.

The next day I was eager to try the racket on a session. During warm up, I felt the solidness but somehow it affects my timing so badly and its hard for me to hit the sweet spot. Having said that, I knew at that time it was more of me adjusting and getting to know to the racket than the racket itself. I knew at least it’s a good racket, so I kept trying.

During the game, timing was still a problem for me. More or less it was a 3 hrs session and at the end the string snapped. It’s not because of anything else but I miss hit the bird on the top end of the racket. That’s how bad my timing that nite.

So got it re-stringed and play with it again yesterday. The second session went surprisingly fine and Im hitting the sweet spot as normally, and the more I play with it the more I feel that the racket is very fast as fast as NS9900. But I thought Warriors 8 is surely not a head light racket like NS9900, I would not expect the speed. Then I realized that my speed expectation has misled me (which led to the bad timing) despite Warriors 8 being balance or slightly head heavy, it’s aerodynamic is so well designed to the level that whipping sound is literally and significantly reduced. I don’t know how they do it (looks like the frame design is different), but it’s the most aerodynamic I ever tried and the most surprising is its not a Yonex

Very happy with the overall performance of the racket, it produces great power and speed. Now I can surely say that Flypower is as good as YY, or the other way around

It will be for the moment my go to racket.

Value for Money: 10/10

Suitability: Beginner/Intermediate/Advance. Singles/Doubles racket.

The racket and a pair of shoes are AUD200 here in AUS
It should be cheaper if you can get it directly from INA or TWN

Hi Yoppy,

Have u tried the Flypower Tornado 700 and 900. What are their specs?
I am looking for a racket for doubles, my fd recommend me the Tornado 700 and 900

I only tried the Tornado 900 for a few minutes strokes, it felt slightly head heavier compare to warrior 8. Apart from that I did not feel much different. If you are looking for doubles attacking racket, go for it you wont regret

U know around how much the tornado 900 would be??

Also did you go to the UNSW comp this week end??? Many ppl are using flypower and aspac's racket

I did join in the last few comp beside this week end I was too lazy during winter, its too cold for me

I got a Warrior 8 last Wed and I have been using it for probably 1 hour accumulated playing time since. It was strung with Li Ning 0.62mm string at 26lbs and a good all round racquet.

The Li Ning string is very good, but I broke the string already ! I think I will try either Zymax or Li Ning 0.67mm string/

I may be wrong but do the Flypowers and ASTECs come from the factory? This model shaft and frame look strangely similar to the AeroLegend series.

as far as I know Flypower and Fleet may share the same factory, also been told that Flypower now have a few other factories to where they make the rackets

hi yoppy, after reading your review on warriors 8, i am really tempted to get one tomorrow!at the moment, im in possession of warriors7 and enigma 900....i find both rackets too head light...right now, im pondering between getting a warriors8 or tornado 900, i read that you've tried both rackets, which of the two is more head heavy?

Tornado 900 feels head heavier than Warrior 8
