I really can't seem to find what i need because i keep getting conflicting information. I live in the south of england, temp on a good day in summer around 22C, in the hall we play probs about that maybe 20C. I want to know which speed shuttles to use. I have looked and the majority seem to say Yonex Speed 3 and Others 77. Is this right because some have said 78, others Yonex speed 4? I have looked on here but its always advice for Australia, America and the far east.
It shouldn't matter what country you're in, so long as you're not at an extreme altitude. I think you'll probably want 77s, but it's borderline and may even depend on the shuttle - can't you get some of each to test? My club (in Cornwall) used speed 77.
Thanks, i wasn't too sure because the hall always feels hotter after playing 3 hours. Gonna go with 77. Happy medium then i can go from there. Think its gonna be 77 summer and 78 winter.
I have gone for the Yang Yang 300B to start off, thinking of also getting the JinQue AAA just to test 2 different shuttles at 2 different speeds.
This is not as simple as temperature in the hall although it is a good guide. The perfect and accurate way to find out is to test out that particular tube of shuttle using the BWF shuttle speed testing method. In boderline cases it is better to opt for one speed higher to ensure everyone can play fuul-court length badminton instead of a truncated-court length badminton.
Thats why i am going for some high quality shuttles, if one brand at 77 isn't good enough but another is then i can start thinking about buying bulk training shuttles of that brand and i wouldn't want to go any lower on a brand that is no good.
