Corks for our old Cab 8 & 8000?

    Attached herewith some pic of our old rackets.

    May i ask what is the cork meant for?

    its to protect the strings. i believe they're pieces of leather used before the U-shaped grommets were introduced. It depends on the stringer and the tension you want to put on the racket. Rackets like the Carbonex 8 and other external T-joints rackets cannot use the U-shaped grommets dude to fitment and wasn't designed to/commonly strung at a high tension anyways.

    They use these in tennis mostly, and for the reasons Distanc3 described as well. They are scrap pieces of leather to cushion the string and prevent 90 degree turns at the bottom. Both Pete Sampras and Roger Federer (both tennis greats, possibly the greatest) used these on their tennis rackets.
