Hey, I was wondering if wearing badminton shoes really makes a difference in your play?
I am an intermediate player but I am starting to get pretty serious into badminton. I currently wear Nike Tiempo 3 indoor soccer shoes. They have good grip because they are court shoes but do badminton shoes offer anything else to your play?

Badminton shoes will not make much difference in your play but a good pair of badminton shoes will help you in preventing injuries.

Well, it seems like it would be a good idea to invest in a pair. I don't suppose I have to get like Yonex SHB-101's or do the less expensive ones still achieve the same goal?

Your indoor soccer shoes will probably be sufficient.

If you have history of ankle injury (or you ask those who has it before), ultimately investing in a good pair of high end badminton shoes outweighted the other advantages/disadvantages for having it since it can minimise the risk of another recurrent injuries as showed by studies. Eventhough the prevention of any sports injury also involves other important approach, but then having a good pair of shoes will be one of the preventive measurement that can minimise the risk of a recurrent. Well, I am gonna stick to my indoor soccer shoes for now, untill I decide on a good pair of badminton shoes. I think they will do for now, but as I get more advanced in badminton I suppose it wouldn't be a bad idea to get some :)

I firmly believe that baddy shoes make a real difference simply because they did for me. Coming from ordinary trainers I found my 99LTDs to be lighter and more flexible, and have better grip and foot support. Even though they can cost as much as a racket I think they are definitely a worthwhile investment.

Baddy shoes are much more better, since they're are made specifically for badminton.
As previously said, they prevent the injuries, and are better for improving your baddy skills, mainly foot work and jumps.

Of course if you're a beginner, it not worth it to buy expensive shoes, you'd rather buy durable ones @ a discount price.
Choose shoes from Yonex, Asics, Victor..

Good Badminton shoes are more important than good Badminton rackets

    .
IMHO, good Badminton shoes are more important than good Badminton rackets.

For every stroke you make with your racket, you need to take 1, 2, 3 (or more) steps with your shoes.

Hence, good Badminton shoes are essential.

Is there a good badminton shoe that anybody recommends for a lower price than the SHB-101? I'm sure you get what you pay for, but as previously mentioned, I would like somthing durable for while I improve my badminton skills. :)

I think that Yonex SHB-7x (70,71,72) offers good value for the money.
Also the Wilson EM7.2 or EM9.2 are nice shoes, some of my friends says they have better grip than any Yonex.....

No need to get the most expensive Yonex as a start.

I started with some normal court shoes, but they really died O.O, so after I started with the SHB42 never regret it, trust me i was at yoru situation before lol, trust me is worth is, you'll move alot faster almost like 2xtimes, and also it'll feel like your using less energy, its soo light and soo flexible, each lunge will feel so much more easy ( I got it as a beginner too ), it'll really help you with your footwork.
when you got your footwork down, and your shoes are dieing again ( prolly in a year or so ) I'll go for the big shoes, with all thos e improve technology !
