I just heard about this today. This place has something like 35,000 sq. miles. Has anyone here visited there? Anyone has its address?
35,000 sq. miles??? That's like an area of 100 miles x 350 miles which means that in order for me to go from one end to another, it will take me approx. 90 minutes by car on the short side (65 miles/hr) and approx. 5 plus hours on the long side! I am assuming that you meant 35,000 square feet which is a pretty big place and you probably can put in around 24 badminton courts.
Re: Re: Re: New Gymn in Milpitas, South Bay Area 'Coz Vancouver would be IN it! This will go on my Top 10 Badminton Fanatics' (night) Dream list...
well, don't let it hang there raymond, tell us, who did you hear it from? surely that person will have more info..
Re: Re: Re: Re: New Gymn in Milpitas, South Bay Area Well, 35,000 sq miles would be KICK@$$ but I was referring to the 35,000 sq feet mentioned by WWC
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: New Gymn in Milpitas, South Bay Area I know, JChen99. Just couldn't resist. Sorry!
Re: Re: New Gymn in Milpitas, South Bay Area Oops... After a few long days of overtime, plus it was very late when I submitted my last post, I guess my mind was just not there anymore. But it seems you guys are all too sharp and fast to recognize the mistake and offer the proper correction... Hmm... Kwun, I really wish I know. I heard this from someone who in turn heard this from "John" (who plays at Shoreline and at Sunnyvale). I hope he's not reading this forum. He's rather uptight with people mentioning his name in the Internet.... But seriously, I don't think my source know. But try to ask the owner of Shoreline gymn. He may know. I heard he canceled his plan to open one in Milpitas (and is looking for another place).
Re: Re: Re: New Gymn in Milpitas, South Bay Area OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! OPEN IN FREMONT! There are practically no place to play in fremont... and theres no badminton store! i don't want to drive to san jose just to buy a racket and drive to plesanton to play!!
Re: Re: Re: Re: New Gymn in Milpitas, South Bay Area Sorry to be off topic, but very well understand ur feeling... Well, I have to order racket online (since there's no local store within driving distance", and my closest club is 35 miles away from home, the farthest is 65 miles. So, 70-130 miles of driving + badminton, heheheheheh....
Re: Re: Re: Re: New Gymn in Milpitas, South Bay Area there is one place in Newark. do a search in this forum and you will find it.
Re: Re: Re: New Gymn in Milpitas, South Bay Area well, there is a rumor that the ASBY people is working on one. maybe that's what John was refering to. and it looks like BANC isn't working on it anymore for now. they seems to be happy with the SJSU gym. even with the rent in the bay area going down, the monthly rent for the large gyms we are talking about is huge. imagine if it is $1/sq.ft, we are still talking about US$35k/month. the risk for taking up such a lease is big and the people involved will be in big debt if they were to fail to recover the cost. that is just an unfortunately side of the economics.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: New Gymn in Milpitas, South Bay Area I know there is Kwun. The Silliman Center in Newark. However if you are not a resident of Newark like me, I have to pay 3 bucks each time i want to play... I don't have that much money.
The City Beach website says they have 16 professional courts in their gym. Is that a good place to play?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: New Gymn in Milpitas, South Bay Area do you expect a gym to open and offers court space for free? as i said, if this place rumored do open up, the rent will be astronomical (US$20,000+ per month), if they offer the gym time for free, how are they going to make up the cost?
8 bucks per person everytime you go in... Thats true Kwun, but its like fremont has the irvington center thats free, but it is ran by the city. Plesenton is free i believe.
Should regard anything free (like a badminton court) as a bonus rather than the norm. In most places I've played, it costs to play badminton.
what Cheung said. i have been to many gyms in the bay area, the place you mentioned is the first (and thus only) one i heard of that is free. all the rest, including Pleasanton, charges from $2->$6 for entry. $3 is actually not bad.
