cameron - in burnaby? not sure if there is a cameron center in vancouver, but there is one in burnaby. located across the street from lougheed mall. have you played there or considering to play there? facilities are decent, rubberized concrete floor, high ceiling, multi-gym style. depending on which night you play, sometime have to contend with basketball playing beside the court. Otherwise the gym is quite good for playing.
that's great...... how can i join u guys? is it just pay the fees and walk-in to play or what....? do i need to apply the membership???
It's drop-in. There are two drop-in prices - member and non-member. adult membership costs around $7 for a year, but this membership is good for all community centers in Burnaby, so it can be used at Bonsor and other centers. Fee is $3.25 for adult drop in member and $4.50 for non-member JCHEN99 is there every Friday...
ALMOST every friday and I dont play as hard somedays than the others(lik this friday I'll just be there to swing at birds so I ca save up energy for ur hellish training that u promised) Cheers!
lwl, make sure ur no older than 22... They generally dont really care, but I've seen them refuse to let kids in that are too old due to the volume of kids they get for the night
Hahah - I think Ben will do the training tomorrow. He will get you all to do the drills and exercises. Unfortunately with the gym setup, we only get 4 courts, the other half of the gym is pre-booked for tot programs. So it could get cramped in our area.
I might go tonight and check out the place... but am I allowed in since I'm too old to be considered a teen??
anyhow I think I'll be going... lwls...I guess I'll see u there...my name is John.. JChen99: I guess ur going too? Since from the looks of it, ur there every friday...
TTT, I wont be there, I havn't gone since 2 weeks ago. I've been slacking off the whole entire semester, so I gotta make it up by not playin badminton for the rest
How is the level of the players at Cameron though? I am only an intermediate player, so there is no point in ruining everybody's game if the calibre of play is too different. -Rick
Traum, I think ur too old for the teens drop-in (altho they let ppl up to about 20 get in) U should try the adult cessions. Most of the adults that play there now are about intermediate and up... of course there are some beginner/beginner intermediates
Oh yes, JChen99. I know I'm far too old to pretend to be a teen! There is no need for you to remind an old man of his age. It is strange that the teen drop-in hours at Cameron are not listed in the latest Burnaby Parks and Recreation Services guide though. According to the guide, the only teen drop-ins that are available are at Bonsor. All the Cameron hours are listed in the adult section of the guide. Guess the Bby Parks Board screwed up? -Rick
I'm not sure about that, I dont look at guides I show up every friday for the teens drop-in, but I can tell you so far this yr the quality of play has gone downhill dramatically (well... from wut I heard cuz I've not played for the last month n a half) I'm not sure if they'll have different hours for the summer, but I assume they wont (or will not have times that are too different from the times they hav during the rest of the year) Adult cessions (from wut I know are lik mondays 7-9pm and fridays 9pm-11pm) Where do you live? if you live live close to coquitlam you might want to try pinetree. However the level of play there is "usually" higher and sometimes pretty crowded Hope this helps
