Guys, over here in Manila, almost all commercial stringers dont know how to use different tensions between the Main and Cross. They've heard about and seen it from rackets coming from other countries but thats it.

Is there something inherently wrong with stringing the main and cross with identical tensions?

Does this hold true even for isometric rackets?

    thanks!

In a very general sense, shouldn't be a problem up to about 24lbs(depending on quality of racquet). Not sure about higher tensions

Does it depend on the number of support the machine has and how tight u clamp it? When I string my iso racket with my 6 point machine at 26 lbs I put half pound more on the cross. The racket comes out very close to the original shape. The shape gets narrower as I increase the cross tension. I know some professional stringers who use 2 point machine and put 2 more pounds on the cross.

That's true. I'd forgotten that when I strung my racquets with the same tension (main & cross), I was using a 6 point machine.

    Thanks

I heard something about this, too.

Seems ppl using 2-pt machine, including me all need to at least 1-2 lbs on cross to make sure the rackets come out with a "pretty face". :p

The first ever time when I used my machine, I forgot to do that, and the racket head came out to be a perfect circle instead of oval shape.

    Nah...

    1. It's just a cheap metal racket I use for practice the string technics...

    2. When I found out what I did, I immediately cut the string... even though, it's cheap, but still did not want to kill it after just 1st trial.

    :D

    3. lucky, did not first tried on my $90+ ones... best decision in that month. :p
