HI Everybody, I used to string BG80 and I changed to use Ti68 for a few years. They are both 0.68mm in diameter. I found that the BG80 is a bit harder but the sound of the Ti68 is louder. I love the sound of Ti68 which is more metal feel. It seem that Ti68 give a more powerful smash. (But I am not sure..) I want to compare the both string, but I do not have two same type rackets, and also no machine to test the speed of the shuttlecock so I could not compare both string at the same time. Do anyone know, which string will give a more powerful smash? According to the yonex string chart, the Ti68 should provide a better control and bounce than BG80. But I wonder is that true? I am planning to try the NBG98, do you think it will be much better than the BG80 and Ti68? and give a more powerful smash? However, it is 0.66mm, so I fear that the durability will be very poor. I hope someone could give me some suggestion, Thank a lots, Jacky PS: Recently, I am studying in Japan, so the price of NBG98 is just similar to Ti68. So the price of the string is not a significant factor.
If you are in Japan, you may wish to try BG66 Maxima (BG66M)(0.65) or BG66 Sharp (BG66S)(0.68) both have great repulsion and have good durability, (especially for the diameter of the strings) Between BG80 & BG68ti, I preferr BG80, more powerful, and better control, but that is just my own opinion. But like I said as you are in Japan, BG66M & S are more readily available, so you may wish to try them out. NBG98's durability is good, for a 0.66 string. smash power is really all down to the player, the strings don't make that much of a difference, but it's good to have the right string for your type of play.
Second LDRules. BG66M is definitely a must try string since you are in Japan. I personally hate BG68Ti and NBG98 because they are too slippery.
Thanks all, It seem that the BG66 Maxima is so great. I will try it out next time when I string. But how about the durability? (0.65mm<- a little bit worry about it) Or I should try the BG66 Sharp first, which is 0.68mm. ^^
I would think that you should try BG66M first, from what i have heard the durability is impresive for a 0.65 string, then if you are happy with BG66M, then you can stick with it, or try out BG66S
I think BG80 has better power and control compare to BG68Ti. BG66 or NBG98 are more powerful but also won't last you long. Maybe give BG85 a try and you may like it . Save some money for next time restring
I tried them all at approximately the same tension. In my opinion BG66 Sharp is the best string of them. BG66 Maxima is a good string and I like it, but it is has a softer feel to it. The thin dimension is also kind of a problem for me. If you string it too hard it gets really hard. If you string it too loose it will get really bouncy and soft. For me it has a very small "window" of perfect tension. Others may not agree. BG68ti is probably the worst string in the yonex line. I tried it on several occasions and with different tensions. It is really slippery. Most slippery string I have come across. It also "dies". It is decent when newly strung but after just a few sessions it gives a dead feel. BG66 Sharp is a very good all round string. Not for the real hard hitter maybe, but everyone else should be able to use it. Grippy, powerful, decent life span. It may not be the best in any aspect, but it is good enough in all.
It is all up to the users. I personally perfer bg 68 ti, as the sound and power is quite good. Louder then bg 80. I was recommanded by candra, of bg 68, well it works pretty well single.
My personal experience is that BG68TI is easier on your arms as it is pretty soft. The power is good and sound too. I cant say for sure that the sound is mightier than BG80 as they project different pitches. On the other hand BG80 is loved by those who wants a cold blooded hard and sonic boom sound. Just a matter if one prefers a soft or hard string. And also BG68TI is more slippery and loses out to the coarse surface of BG80 in terms of slices and netplay. Both have similar durability. Btw i see talk of NBG98 (SP) being a nastily slippery string. BG68TI is somewhere there too. NBG98 (JP) does not display any of the infamous slipperiness however. BG66Maxima (JP) is somewhere as slippery and as soft as BG68TI with even easier power. Among all of these, NBG98 has the best durability, followed by BG66Maxima, accompanied by BG80 and BG68TI at the cellar.
