    Default Firman Abdul Kholik

Firman Abdul Kholik (born 11 August 1997) deserves his own thread.
First time I saw him play was when he reached the final of the Sunrise Indonesia Masters GPG last year. He is a left hander which I think is very uncommon for Indonesian players, actually I heard someone say he is right handed but he plays with his left hand anyway. Skill wise he is very good, personally I think his skills are (or will be) on par with Lee Chong Wei. I hope he can do well in future tournaments.

    Here are some pics:

I watched him first at Indonesia Junior International Challenge 2012/2013 (i forgot).
In semifinal, he lost to Anthony Ginting. I had written the review somewhere here.
At that time, his power is quite weak. and, he often lift the shuttle to the middle of the court of his opponent. He has to improve in that area.

Ginting is also good that time. I concern about his mentality. And now, Ginting is much better in that area.

Both are our hope. Stars in the making.

Firman just played against Lee Chong Wei in SEA-games team competition. He lost 21-19 21-10. It was a very good performance by Firman.

So actually he is right handed but he prefer to use his left hand instead of his right hand? Wow, if that is true, It maybe can answer my wondering.
His match I watch for the first time was against Jan O Jorgensen in the last Sudirman Cup. The way he holds and swings the racket seems "unusual" for me in my first impression. I don't know, IMO, he seems a little bit uncomfortable handling his racket.
But after watching him play, I'm wrong, maybe it's just his style. He has the potential.
Today watching his match against LCW, I think he has improved his smashes. He scored quite a few smash winners against LCW today. Against Jan before, he barely got a smash winner.

No, i don't think he is right handed.
Bcs it's not easy to play with left hand when you right handed.
I think he is left handed but using right hand for particular work.
Just like me, i'm left handed, but for some work I'm using right hand (eg. writing, eating)

Agreed.. It must be hard to play with left hand when someone is actually a right handed. But still to me how Firman handle his racket looks not natural.

It is not a certain fact that he is actually right handed, it is just something I have heard or read somewhere on BC. If someone knows for sure please inform us.

Firman is right handed. he has said it in an interview. I forgot the link. I read it maybe a year ago.

he has used his left hand since kid and feel more comfortable. he only use left hand for badminton, right hand for other activity.

Left or right, I think he is a very capable player is he can put everything together, barring any injuries and other unforeseen circumstances.

Firman is going to play in Taipei GPG next month. He is drawn to face Son Wan Ho in R1, that is a tough draw.
