It was obvious TA has already exhausted during the last minutes of the 3rd game
Nevertheless, on the other hand, I also saw that faces of Xu Chen / Ma Jin were stressfull
The CHN Pairs, seemed to carry heavy burden on their shoulders, i.e., playing before their own supporters, and the losses of WS Finale, are several factors that also support the turning points of the 3rd games. Last but not least, the biggest factor for BWF World Champs during XD Finale was lady luck .

Anybody knows why Owi/Butet skipped the Yonex Open Japan 2013?

Richard Mainaky I think said to media the target is: BWF Super Series Final, and of course the major SSP: Denmark and China Open.

Owi/Butet was busy after winning worlds with interview, kirab, and visiting Owi's hometown, maybe they would like extra time to prepare for last two SSP events, thus they skip Japan Open.
Oh Btw, ZN/ZYL is now XD No.1 after they won Adidas China Master 2013. Congratulations for them! Top three XD ranks are very close around 89k-90k points. Very interesting race to year end of 2013.

If I have to guess is because:
1. They would like to maintain top two XD, so the seeds will be no.1 and no.2... So the only chance they can meet each other is in the final.
2. They would like to restore the self confidence of these pairs after recent defeat in some tournaments.
Denmark and French Open M&Q has released, Very competitive entrance for XD department, I would say all top pair expected to meet at these two tournaments.

Congratulation for Owi/Butet especially to get pass joachim/christina in CSSP Final. This is definitely good for their confidence next.
Btw, i notice Owi/Butet is always professionally well dressed (more professional than Ahsan/Hendra). Their apparel keep changing (and good) and matching with each other. Must be one of Victor highest paid player in the world.
I wonder if even bigger contract than Lee Yong Dae?

Just to update Owi/Butet's achievement since the last update:
8th SS title for Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir + 7 GPG titles and 1 SEA Games Gold Medal make it 16 titles won by this pair since their pairing 3.5 ago. Compared to Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir (17 titles, including 2 SEA Games Gold and 1 Invitational World Cup), they just need 1 more to match them.
Towi/Butet's titles (15 Open titles and 1 World Championships):
Macau Open GPG 2010, 2011, 2012
Indonesia Open GPG 2010, 2012
Malaysia Open GPG 2011
Swiss Open GPG 2012
India SS 2011, 2012, 2013
All-England SSP 2012, 2013
Singapore SS 2011, 2013
China SSP 2013
World Championships 2013
SEA Games Gold 2011

Remaining big targets to achieve between now and end of 2014:
SS Final, Indonesia SSP and Asian Games Gold.
The SS titles which still elude them:
Australia (new one from 2014)
and I hope they clear most of this list by 2015.
