What was your first all carbon/graphite racket? Are you still using it as your main racket to this day? Options: A. My first carbon racket is still my main racket B. My first carbon racket is my backup racket C. I almost never use my first carbon racket D. Other (sold, broken, lost, etc) It would also be nice if you told us how many years you've been playing. I'm curious to see what BCers purchased as their first racket and what percentage are still using them.
D. Other (sold, broken, lost, etc) My first carbon racket was a Yonex Isometric 52/53. This was about six years ago.. I must have lost it because I have no idea what became of it.
Are you going to make this a "votable" poll with the cute bar graph? If so, mark me down for "B". My first graphite, a SOTX Woven 2, is still my back-up racket. After a series of racket dalliances, only PandaPower Trinity 1 has displaced it from #1.
My first ALL-carbon racket was a Carlton Aerogear 800HT (c.2001) - still in one piece, but haven't used it in years, so my answer would be "C". I did play with a graphite/aluminium racket for a few years before that though (and even steel rackets before that).
D. Other (sold, broken, lost, etc) First racket is a metal/carbon ? Pro Kennex. (Hope some still heard of this name) Broken at the T-Joint due to rust yeah, rust. Been playing badminton since Primary one, that is about 25 years ago. But it is on off. Stop mostly during Secondary till Uni because full time tennis. Now back full time badminton.
D. Other (sold, broken, lost, etc) I had a cheap Carlton racquet before I really got into badminton, the strings broke and it would've cost me more to restring it than to buy a new one. When I actually got into badminton I bought a Wilson racquet, dunno which one, was only like £25. Got broke when I took it to school and smebody using the steel school racquets just destroyed mine in a racquet clash. =(
After the forum software update, I am not sure how to turn on the poll function. Anyway, my closest answer is A. The racquet was purchased in 1986 - carbonex20 - It was not quite the first all carbon racquet to be marketed, I think it was the 2nd.
Good thread ! C. My first Carbon racket, now features only in my bag, it was the first racket that I used when I first got into badminton, buy now it remains in my bag, 90% of the time, unless I am playing with a much younger/beginner player. I believe it is a Babolat racket which I first used. Since then I have used, AT900t>NS9900>AT900t>SW35.
D. My 1st full carbon racket was a carlton (I cant remember the name). I bought it (well my parents gave me the money) when i was in the secondary school (SMP in Indonesia), and i used it for about 4 or 5 yrs before i jump fly felt and landed on it while trying to retrieve a drop shot
My first racquet was one of those combo packages where you got two racquets and a crumpled plastic shuttle for about $10 US. About the only thing it's good for these days is a fly swatter, and not a very good one for that matter. I think I still have it though, but I would have to look long and hard to find it.
This is what I expected. I was hoping that some people would reply that their first racket was a high-end Yonex racket or something and that now they are using another racket/model. This way when people ask whether they should get the Z-Slash or Nanospeed 9900 as their first racket, I can refer them to this thread and tell them that it won't really matter since they'll probably change rackets.
my first all carbon racket was a cab18. but after i sold it to my friend, his brother broke it. it was very sad.
Mine was yy carbonex 8 about 25yrs ago. I'm using 2 carb 20 (original first edition and the new one) as main racket now
