Is there such thing as a good and CHEAP shuttle? I'm using Sealion now, but I would like to experiment with other brands.
There are numerous makes in the market right now, one of the most popular which is Yonex. You may have to do a little research on the speed of the specific shuttle, depending on the humidity of your region, since a shuttle that is considered fast in Malaysia may not be good in England. There are numbers to guide you, like in my area, shuttle speeds of 77, 49 & 2 are considered ideal. I usually buy tournament (gold) types since they give me that level of satisfaction, and are usually more durable. Why not try Tronex yellow, red or gold, RSL gold or silver, aeroplane red or Carlton. Also ask your friends. Hope this helps.
How much is Yangyang 300B in MA's? I think he has the manufacture branch there, should be relatively cheaper than in US market. Good quality, with relatively cheaper price compare to most of others with similar quality.
I found Hi-Qua's to be a good, cheap bird. My college always bought the orange practice grade...they were great for practices and for tournaments. Here is a list of their grades. I did not post prices though but they are cheap in comparison to other companies. Obviously larger orders such as grosses will reduce the cost. Hi-Qua, orange, practice grade Hi-Qua, blue, tournament grade, IBF approved (white feather) Hi-Qua, blue, tournament grade, IBF approved (yellow feather) Hi-Qua, red, super tournament grade, IBF approved Here is her email address if you wish to contact her about ordering... kit-mak@rogers.com She's based in Canada...can't remember where though.... Tell her Tim Yu referred you...I'm gonna let her know as well that she may be contacted.... I don't know if I'm breaking any rules of the forum with this posting...If I am, I apologize.
Off topic but you have an Ontario Cable ISP e-mail when you're located in BC? What is the world coming to hehe.
I had played with Hi-qua blue and found it very fragile and the flight was just ok. Yang Yang 300B is a much better bird.
same here. the feathers frays very easily and they become very mushy. there are much better shuttle out there for the similar price. i like the YangYang 300B too.
At least, in US market, for HQ Blue's price - USD$15+, u have many other better choices, such as Yangyang 300B, Aeroplane (G1130), Tronex Gold, etc. Not sure about in MA's... Maybe there HQ has better quality and lower price???
You guys are confusing me!!!! Are there any other brands that are good...besides Yonex, Carlton....and all that? I think we're just paying for the brand. Lol. Once I played with a Yonex and a Sealion shuttle, I found both to be the same! Not that Yonex is that great....I don't know. Maybe there is a diff I didn't see?
Brands here that I have seen and are comparable for average play - Sosan Black, Hiqua blue, MMOA white, Victor Gold, Victor Tourney. For practice or low level play - YIPU Green, Victor Silver, Victor brown (service), MMOA orange. for the most part you are right about most shuttles are similar regardless of the price. there are some subtle differences, but you need to inspect them more closely. some of these price differences relate to construction of the shuttle and the quality of the materials used for them. But some other aspects of price difference is purely to pay for marketing. if you have several different shuttles on hand - check out the: feathers. see if you notice any quality differences between the brands - cut, thickness, color, evenness of all the feathers with each other, curve of each feather. cork leather - smooth, clean, more pores/less pores, no glued dripped on side. glueing of the string cage - glue on the outside only, inside glued, top string cage glued only, bottom glued, glue dripped onto cork leather?, glue smothered on the inside of the cork? weight -does the shuttle physically feel light or too heavy? scratch off the inside label. some makers insert tiny screws or ball bearings to weight the shuttle. this is to make the shuttle a consistent weight, but unless the inserted weight is dead center, it could cause a wobble in the shuttle. flight - play with it. some cheaper shuttles does not spin well, some won't spin at all or the spin is erratic. some of the price difference you are paying for is that the consistency of each shuttle coming from the same tube plays and spins the same. cheaper shuttles, testing all the shuttle in one tube you may find only some play the same, and others in the same tube are wildly different.
Umm.....about.....RM 45. I've never seend GOsen shuttles before, but I think the shop in Taman Megah hall has it. And Proace too. How much do these brands cause?
Well i think you can get Gosen S-200 and Pro Ace Aerotech- 85 at around RM35 to 37 per tube. It is already tournament grade shuttles. Consistence and very durable. Of coz you can get other brands much cheaper than that..but might not be so good. Try it and let me know.
Okay, thanks. I'll buy it when I'm done with my tube of shuttles. BTW, ants how can you be in Malaysia AND Manila? Just wondering.
Well , i'm currently working and residing in the Philippines for 3 years already. But i go back to malaysia back and fourth very often. I'm staying in OUG if you know the place. Near Bukit Jalil.
