Are shuttlecocks really made from Goose feathers? If so, then what do they do to them to make them the way they are in the end? Like you know, tougher, shiny .......

Yeah man. Feather shuttles are made with 16 goose feathers on each birdie. Check out this link to see how they make them.

i think it will affect the flight of the shuttle and the whole game. if only u remember something, Ducks dun fly but Goose does. Duck is more common and more as a food so the feathers are juz by-product but Goose is different. So "Duck" feather is cheaper

As far as I know, all ducks and geese fly, except domestically raised ones that have had their wings clipped. Goose feathers are larger than duck feathers, so perhaps the extra size maks a goose feather easier to trim to the optimum shape, or else goose feathers are just stronger and more durable than duck feathers.

That reminds me of a dream I had two nights ago. I dreamed I had just ordered a tube of feather shuttles and somehow had opted for the "blue" grade of shuttles. When I opened the tube, I found that the shuttles were not only bright blue in color, but were made from light, fluffy ostrich feathers. Pretty bizarre dream.
