    Hi there,

At the national training we get mostly (almost exclusively)BG-65, so I was wondering about trying out some other strings.
What do you people think is the best string for repulsion (this equals out to power if one generates sufficient swing speed)? I hear very good things about both BG-68Ti as well as BG-80. All other things being equal the stiffer string gives more respulsion.

That's correct. BG-68 Ti gives out quite a punch compared to BG-65 and BG-80 but it's not everyone's cup of tea. Lots of Forum Posters do not like this string due to its hardness and slippery surface. However, the repulsion is very satisfying to the experienced player.

    Thanks Pete,

It sounds like I should ask our stringer to bring a reel of it for tomorrow sessions.

Strange though, because of one reads the threads in here they tend to lead in the direction favouring BG-80 over this one. And of course the bg-66, but that's an entirely different story due to its "one hit, one break" ability. Well, perhaps not, but close.

Well, I definitely recommend the BG-80 after my experience with the BG66 unless you are made out of money. The BG-80 lasted 2 months for me whereas the BG66 only lasted 3 weeks. They were both strung at 21lbs and after 3 weeks the BG66 snapped whereas with the BG80 I only saw a slight tear in the string and immediatly restrung it.

The BG-80 has alot more power. According to the Yonex Selection Chart (http://www.yonex.co.jp/badminton/feature/mp/style.html) The BG-66 is more of a control string and the BG-80 is power and more bounce which I kind of find interesting because the left is durability which the BG66 doesn't seem to have and I felt alot more kick out of the BG66.

    Go with the 80!

    Hey Pete,

Yodums does have a point. And according to Yonex bg80 is the string with more power, yet they have the same amount of bounce. Strange, in my experience its hard to differ between bounce and power.
And if the 68 is so slippery, why is it defined as a control string. That cannot be right.

    Pete,
what do you think of the bg80?

    Yodums,
what are your thoughts on the 68Ti?

Well, it maybe considered a manuverable string if you adapt to it like you adapt to a new racquet but what Yonex rates may not what people may think either like their stiff ratings.

The 68 and 80 should be similar in power. The 80 would give more kick since the 68 is a more stiffer string and being stiffer, it is more durable. They are exactly the same size - 0.68mm.

According to Yonex, they are the exactly the same thing just that the 68 Ti is made for control and 80 made for power but that's kind of hard to decide since the Ti is rather slippery.

I wonder why it is more of a control since the 65 Ti is just one lil circle in the upper power.

    Hmm.

I don't think the BG65 Power isn't going to be any different from the BG65.

As you can see from this image, it says 5% but it really only a 3mph increase. Percentage is just another way of persuasion in advertisement since percentage is usually going to bigger when working with smaller numbers.

I personally like the BG65's and even the BG70's are high tension. I really don't miss the kick from the thin strings but I really like high tensions now, especially when I ran run them up for durable strings unlike the thin ones.

My backup racquet which I'm currently using has the 70 Pro @ 22lbs for plastic and it feels great.

I'm going to get my other BK racquet back on Saturday with BG65s at 23lbs. But I think I'll stop there. I'm trying to choose between 22 and 23 as my main tension.

This is what Bush calls "Fuzzy math." It's a perfectly valid form of math widely used by politicians in calculating budgets.

    according to yonex,
bg88ti is supposed to be good for tumble shots
    CBG100 for it's feel
    and 75ti for repulsion...

this can be seen on the package of the strings.

I can't give you an accurate review since my bro's MP-55 CD is strung with BG-80 to 20 lbs. It's a limpe.
