i voted Fu Haifeng. and TBH a close 2nd.
many of the others are pretty close in terms of pure smash power and penetration, Fu / TBH wins out on the pure dynamism and athleticism, with FHF slight ahead in two categories. FHF looks much more dynamic, he jumps up and you know they will have to replace the court mat for the next match. TBH has a more efficient technique but lack on the pure spectacle. the 2nd part is that FHF is like a good wine, he gets better as he age, and he gets better as the match goes on. TBH hasn't really changed much since his debut and might even have gotten slightly weaker, his smashes are no longer as penetrating anymore.

Well.. I think LYD will get more votes that JJS for the wrong reasons.
I agree with Kwun. FHF for pure dynamism and athleticism. Plus the shuttle speed he gets is quite incredible. Slight difference between him and TBH is that TBH jumps for height, hence angle. FHF jumps sideways more than straight up. Both are totally awesome.

PJB is my fave among all of them, great wrist work.
FHF to me is really pure brute force..

Is this poll and the backhand poll even needed? We all know who the kings are.
Overall it has to be FHF. Sheer power and dynamic.
Unless we break this into subcategory. Like, most spectacular jump ( I would vote for Sigit B.
). Best angle (TBH prehaps). Best continuous smasher (Kido?
) and loudness smasher...
P.S: I agree that HTK should be on the list, maybe Zheng Bo too

Liem Swie King is the "King of the Smash"
.
I am still wondering why Liem Swie King is not listed.

Up to now LSW is still known as the "King of the Smash". This YouTube will demonstrate what I mean:
