York University Keel and Steels

Hi, are any of you badminton enthusiasts interested in playing at York University? The university gym is open for badminton Mon to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm (I think).

There is a club that runs Mon, Thurs and Fri at 1:30 to 4:30. Man and Thurs in the Fieldhouse gym downstairs where the weightroom is and Friday in the Upper Gym.

Oh... well York offers rec badminton time from 8-5 Monday and Thursday in the field house. The other days are for basketball and soccer. Club times are your best bet cause there is people to mingle with and get some games going. It's harder if you come at the rec times cause people don't normally randomly show up for badminton anyways. You'll see what I mean when you get there.

don't really know about the tournament schedules, they are very disorganized this year.

Do you play at the club?

i only play on fridays sometimes. there's a tournament tomorrow from 9-4pm. i'm still looking for a partner to play but i'm only able to play in the preliminaries from 9am - 12pm. i have to leave by 2ish and won't be able to play in the finals.

Hey guys, some of the regular players for YUBC including me are planning to play sometime this end of April or start of May. If you are a student at York and planning to take courses or if you are available during weekdays then join our badminton group in the upper gym. We are probably going to play from 1 pm 'till 8 pm 3-4 days a week. Let me confirm from my friends first.

Unfortunately no. Clubs don't run during the summer season because it is York's policy. Facilities are in use by summer camps too. I think they run from 12-4:30 pm. I'm basing this from last year when I was playing badminton at York during the summer season.

Wait until the end of April. The gym is used for exams from April 5-25. I think the floor on the upper gym and main gym is taraflex. Also you need to be a student to get into the Tait Mckenzie gyms. Unless you want to pay money for the summer membership.

You need a York ID to get in the gym and to borrow a net from the front desk. If you are not a student then no you can't get in. Ask a student to sign you in but I wouldn't risk it if it was me.
