Probably your stringer knows you too well (your playing strengths and weaknesses) therefore he/she decided to string it at the same tension though you ask for a higher or lower tension. Maybe, the stringer does all your stringjobs at 25/26 lbs?

Make sure he doesn't do something like string all of them at a lower tension than that what you asked for.

I've had some awful problems recently probably because the stringers didn't want to be blamed for a damaged racquet when strung at a high tension.

to get the tension you want on your racket, suggest to your stringer or rather fix an appointment

so that you can wait for your racket while he is stringing it.:p

that way you will get what you want ;)

however, some stringers do not like it and one should know the reason

as some already suggested some stringers are careful of their reputation breaking rackets :D

it is always good to use to the same reliable stringer.

i once had a racket of mine strung in a local club. i asked for 24lbs. i swear it was so loose, it could be no more than 15lbs.

This is 1 experience I can share with you guys.

Pro shop owners who are not involved in stringing themselves are facing this non-committed job.

Unless the pay is there and training provided maybe the the quality servce is there.

I can imagine how frustrating one can be if the string job is lousy.

It will spoil the whole session!

Thus when going to a new place for stringing do speak to the stringer and make your assessment.

Add a few more pounds and expect the worst! Taking a look at the strung rackets helps your decision!

The stringing place in Box Hill that Talkingtaco2 mentioned is a very reliable place. I think they may have a ES5pro machine in one of their branch as well. Also, I think 2 out of 3 of the stringers did stringing job for the Australia GP event this year. I have experienced their stringing before and it's very close to ECP even when they strung using one of their crank machine.

Hey Talkingtaco2, just out of curiosity,
    1) In your profile, you said you are playing with plastic shuttle. Why would you want to string your tension to 28lbs? IMO, 28lbs is way too high for plastic shuttle. If your level of play is close to state level, you should know that. Also, why do you play with plastic shuttle?????
    2) Also in your profile, you claimed to be nearly state level. Which state level, under-12?
