Intermediate player, wanting to improve as my experience grows. Average build, mainly doubles play. Which racquet is best?

    • Carlton Airblade AS Ti
    • Victor Phoenix 1000
    • Victor Fung Permadi 2000 Ti
    • Yonex Isometric MP 55

Also, anyone know of any shops in Dallas that stock the racquets and shoes?

Only happen to know Victor Fung 2000 is a light (I think it's 3U, 85-89 g), balanced racket. Decent power, nice control (took several swing when I borrowed one from a friend once or twice) Several ppl I know, are using that in their double games.

The closest local store I know, is http://members.aol.com/jumpsmash/jumps.htm (Sports Net). It locates in Houston, TX, not sure how far from ur house. If you can visit them, and actually got ur hand on the rackets, it will help u a lot to make ur decision. The owner is a nice guy, very helpful.

    Racquets

I like the feel and power of the victor fung 2000, with the other victor being okay.
I do not at all like the isometric 55

No clue about the carlton however.

you should check out the new carlton racquets. the top model of the megaflex series seems to be cheaper than the asti.

Ended up going for the Gosen with great advice from David, the owner of JumpSmash/Sports Net: http://www.sportsnetonline.net in Houston. Getting it from there for only $65! You guys should check out some of his prices... Thanks for all the advice. I'll let you know what I think of the racquet. www.hypnoweb.com

Racket does not make you much better from your level. I've got badminton teacher, who playing in a national league. Do you want to know how much he paid for his no name racket..... £45.00. Do you know what I am trying to say....:p

    Gosen Racquet

I got an isometric Gosen Roots 2400. Yonex string at 20lbs. With full padded case. Got to be better than my 14yr old metal Carlton with Aluminum head wouldn't you say? :)

    Winning Shot?

My winning shot is the "just-get -it-back-over-the-net" shot. That also answers how good a player I am...

Maybye you should give the more flexible rackets like the Victor G 7500 III, Oliver Sinus H, Oliver 4004, yonex ???,... , at the beginning of your career a try. Some retailers will surely lend you some of the rackets of the category, so you can find out by yourself, which one fits the most.

Sadly I don't have any outlets in Dallas (suprisingly) to test racquets. Oshman's don't even carry decent racquets, just the Garden Set variety. Any other Dallas Players Here?

Have not played with it til Thursday. But it's a great weight, looks nice, a little longer than my old racquet, so it may take a little to get used to, but I got it for $65. e-mail David at : jumpsmash@aol.com Tell him I referred you. he has some great prices.
