I am not sure this is the product LCW use during his matches but I bought a roll in blue to try it out. They come in pre-cut strips in a roll. Avaliable in blue, beige black, green, red and pink colours. More info at www.kttape.com Singapore agent: Sportscorp, Wang Yingzhao Tel: 9456 5147
KT Tape compared to a medical tape my friend who works in a hospital gave me. Both works the same as you have to stretch them out first before you apply them loosely at the ends. The difference is one is a medical tape and the other non-medical sports tape. Will test the medical tape first tomorrow and next session the sports tape.
It could be spider tape. That too is kinesiology tape, but marketed differently, and they have pre-cuts for special muscle groups etc. http://www.nucapmedical.com/index.html
Why don't you try it and let us know how is the performance of your racquet . Your smash will be more powerful ala Lin Dan. Anyway in the one of her commentaries, Gill Clarke mentioned that some players like Lin Dan who do this is to adjust the timing of their racquet to compensate for the different conditions in each sports venue.
for the benefit of bc members, I have enquired on the prices from sportscorp, their reply: Thank you for your query. We are selling the tapes at $26 per roll, and 4 rolls for $95. We currently do not have a store and are selling on a delivery basis. We offer free delivery islandwide. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Kinesio Taping methods - good info For all BCers, Anyone who wants to use Kinesio tape (there are many brands in the market, but essentially they are generically known as kinesiology tapes) should first study how the tapes are supposed to be applied. Here is a snip from an e-How page that succintly sums up what Kinesiology tape is all about: Tapes are to be applied in different ways to the same muscle/ligament/group for different purposes: either to support, or for rehabilitation. So please understand why you are using the tape, and then apply accordingly. Otherwise, you may not only not get the desired results, you may even get negative results. Here are some resources you may tap into for more information on Kinesiology tape products, and teping techniques. I hope this helps you guys.
After trying out the KT Tape, I don't they are really that good and effective. After a while, the tape start to loose their stickiness and fall off from your skin. I have now switched to Mueller kinesiology tape which is much better and sticks really well. The other difference is they are not pre-cut in length like KT. I think this is the brand that LCW uses.
