    Default Which workout exercises are good for badminton?

    Hey people..

    I've been doing a little reasearch on this website, and seems like many are saying "You wanna increase your strength ?? Pfff, work on fitness level instead!"

    Well it might be a bit of an exaggeration, nevertheless, my fitness level doesn't need to be improved currently. So i would love to hear if you guys knew any workout exercises that can be done at home. I'm mainly interested in exercises for your upper body, as i already have and do exercises for my legs. I have dumbells.

    Oh and btw.. are push ups any good for badminton?

    Stamina. Focus on anaerobic (not necessarily HIT) types of exercise.
    Improve core strength. Improve flexibility and elasticity of legs.
    Breathing exercises and routines.

    These are the core rotines you must perform in additon to any muscle-building routines. Weights are not the best thing really. Use weights sparingly, and then to improve fast-twitch muscle performance.

    There is a very good description of the difference between Fartlek and Interval traning. I am sure this will help you.

    I would place GREAT emphasis on core training. THIS is the most important type of training because it will increase your power (anaerobic core training) AND it will greatly increase your fitness! I know your fitness is good, but this will just heighten what you are already good at. The abdominal workout for boxers is the best one I have found.

    Cobalts suggestions are excellent as well. I find the core exercises really cover everything: some harder ones - these are anaerobic, some easier ones which are aerobic, and throughout it all you will really have to focus on your breathing technique.

    Simply doing these exercises (and the ones in the second video) took my fitness and power and EVERYTHING to a new level, meaning I could push myself harder in everything i did. The core muscles (front and back) co-ordinate all of the others, and that's why they are so vital. They are the secret to the great Bruce Lees strength and speed.

    Thanks guys for your advice

    I'm gonna work intensively on my core and leg muscles for the next 2 weeks.

    excellent choice core muscles are definitely the way to go

    better go easy on the legs until your ankle heals properly! No point compounding the problem...

    In my case, I have very good aerobic and anaerobic endurance as well as a very strong core. I am now working on my agility and my strenght and this type of training is what gave me the most results so far, in your case it could be the same, or totally different.

    Some very good tips and I would also add that you do need to work on strengthening and stretching the forearm muscles as they play a very big part in every shot we play.
