80s pop to me was the pits.
I can only vaguely remember a lot of mumbo jumbo and a lot of techno and synthesisers buzzing in the background.
Names I can remember like Depeche Mode, Spandau Ballet, Flock of Seagulls, Orchestral Manouevres in the Dark, XTC, etc.
Th only stuff I pay attention to is the work of Dire Straits and Police.

I grew up in the 80s with two brothers who were teens then, so I got to listen to what I'd consider the best era in modern music, when the songs actually meant something. Some of my favourite songs are actually from the 80s, some of which are:
a-ha - Take On Me
B-52s - Love Shack
Crowded House - Don't Dream It's Over
Duran Duran - too many to list here
Five Star - Rain or Shine
Pet Shop Boys - West End Girls
Roxette - It Must Have Been Love
Tears For Fear - Everybody Wants To Rule the World, Shout
U2 - most stuff from The Joshua Tree
...
I give up... there are far, far too many of them.
And of course ... MICHAEL JACKSON.
Talking about music in the 80s without mentioning him is like forgetting that a certain Zhao Jianhua once played for China during that era.

Haha I think that's the first time I see the Safety Dance video, was some news about them not long ago ... think last month even but don't remember what about.
There was a best of 80's top (a lot) chart on a local radio station last year as well which put a lot of names to tracks I vaguely remember
. I had a walkman when I was 4 already but artist names are just a blur except for michael jackson, billy ocean, run dmc. Glenn Medeiros sounds familiar but not that song. Madonna, Whitney Houston perhaps ...
