if i can get the EG-1130 for around $17/ or $18 and the AS-40 for $26? which one should i get.

and can anyone tell me how much of a difference does it make if you hydrate the shuttles? and the best way to do it. the 1130 usually last maybe 3/4 of one game.

    thanks!

Using your prices, AS-40 is around 40% more expensive. So to be an economical point of view, it needs to last 40% longer before you are saving money. I think the EG-1130 is probably better value for money.

Some people swear by steaming of the shuttles. Personally, I've found that it makes no difference... but then again, I could be doing it wrong.

We prefer EG1130 over AS-40 any day.
For us, EG1130 easily lasts 2 games or so. For the price of AS-40, it has to last more than 3.1 games in order to be comparable. No way, AS-40 will do that for you.
Here is another point of view, unless the people you play with all use AS-40, you will end up using almost the same amount of birdies every week anyways, regardless of how expensive they are. We did a "study" on this and it is absolutely true, amazingly.
Therefore, it does not save money to buy the $26 tube at all, in the short or long run.
From flight point of view, IMHO, EG1130 is comparable AS50.
    My 2 cents.
