String feels tighter as it gets colder

    I'm sure I'm not the first nor only one to notice this.

    But up here in Canada where the playing temp went from 28C in the summer to 18C now, my strings feel 2-3 lbs tighter. It's either this or I'm getting weaker! :(

    Dang! Those calculations in that thread were beyond me! :eek:

    But the take home message is that there is a 0.5-1 lb tension increase for every 5'C drop.

    That matches very well with my experience.

    kwun, btw don't stick your newly strung P in the freezer! :p
    That may cause your 27 lb to increase by 4-8 lb to 31-35 lbs!
