Discovered an easy solution for those of us who wear glasses while playing baddy. You know, when you're sweaty and the glasses keep slipping down the nose... Instead of tying it at the back with an elastic, I've used an elastic band to loop around each of the part that goes above the ears. Just keep looping until there is no slack left and there is a thick nubbin of elastic built-up. Put on your glasses, and voila! Instant non-slip glasses! And did not cost even one cent!
This is what i use when i have to use my spectacles during games. (But, I usually use contact lenses now.) These are very common here in Singapore, not sure about your area. Opticians in Singapore usually give it free when we buy spectacles from them. If any of you guys need this and it is not available in your area, i am guessing, these 2pieces of rubber should be pretty cheap, and shipping is light. I can get it for you guys. Haha. No extra charges. Just doing a favor.
Wow I never seen those before! Usually at my glasses store we get the string ones where you put them on the end of the glasses to prevent it from falling to the floor, or we tighten it up so it stays on our head.
Nice pics, Sgbad! Those look very effective! I'll try to see if our local opticians have it here in Canada. If not, I'll know who to PM!
I could only get those ear attachments in Asia many years ago. Now, with 1 day acuvue, I use contacts.
Black Neoprene Sports Band Strap I bought these for my coach when we started playin in the league together for when he took his glasses off, it took his eyes 30 mins to adjust and this was no good for the 1st match and he found this worked great except that they steam up afta a while so he jus needs to wipe them http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Black-Neopren...646?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5adac781e6
Gingerphil, Yes, that's what I had used in the past. Very good. But my DIY is funtional, discrete, and much cheaper ie. free.
Hi everyone, FYI, we sell these eyeglass retainers online. The brand is called Keepons, and depending on the style you're looking for, it'll cost between 4-8 USD, shipping and tracking number included. The above photos are the black deluxe style, but we also have many other different styles and colors like: You can find them all here at the Keepons section of the chamightlike.com store. Thanks and sorry for the shameless plug.
Looks like a good idea. I have a strap myself but only used it once. It tends to puch my glasses on my nose which I don't like. The ultimate solution is waiting for me in a few months tho: refractive surgery.
My glasses don't usually fall off but if they start to fall off I usually take off my glasses wipe the sweat of my face and near my ears and done hehehe
I wear head band to prevent sweat drip onto grass. I tuck the head band close to ear so that it can apply slight pressure on the glasses leg. I used the glasses leg clip etc before, most of them too tight and hard to adjust. I prefer the head band best.
Something that works too for me are those cleaning napkins for your glasses. Use them on the bridge of your nose too and it'll slip less during the early stages. Obviously this is not really helpfull when you look likr you just took a shower ;-).
There are some articles on this website on spectacle slipping, http://specessories.com/content-articles.html, and reviews on spectacle hooks too. There is also a new eyeglasses hook, (http://betasimplicity.com/wedgeclassic.html) which is very comfortable and can be taken off the glasses after your workout.
Now using another one nicer looking spectacle hook (http://betasimplicity.com/flexdiscreet.html). So far so good.
I'm surprised that nobody here has mentioned proper sport temples yet. At my optician those are free of charge. Quite frankly, I can't fathom why anyone would ever want other temples; I have always opted for the sport ones.
Remember when I was a child my friends in school who used glasses had those for sports class. Please send me some. I've asked around at many opticians for this and they all said they didn't have that no more.
