What exatly is this product? i know its used to relieve stress in some muscles but does it really work? thanks.

Well, Wikipedia says that Deep Heat is a spray or cream with these ingredients:

• Menthol 5.91475%
• Eucalyptus Oil 1.97231%
• Methyl Salicylate 12.80123%
• Turpentine Oil 1.47287%
• Copper sulphate compound 0.56

Most of these type of rubs feel warm and tingly (don't get too excited) and they can bring heat deep into stiff sore muscles. Quite a few people find it quite nice for low back pain. Other people find it a bit irritating and not at all helpful.

All that to say, try it and see if you like it for your favorite cramp or stiff back.

No, seriously, probably the only active ingredient in Deep Heat or the like is methyl salicylate, which acts like a local analgesic anti-inflammatory.

Voltaren (diclofenac) emulgel, I find, is better...
