where is the tournament held? they didn't specify which campus and exact location for ppl who are participating in this event could you please post the address? thanks
Arg, I shoulda gone to Ontario Juniors, it woulda been fun. Too bad I missed the entry deadline. Thhhpppttt..... I looked at the draw, some of the seeds are U16's, I guess they're playing in it for fun since its in the area and their's is in a couple weeks. I want the rankings posted since at the HP event #5 at Ajax, I made semi's in doubles and finals in mixed, which equals alot of ranking points. BTW, is is true that next season they're gonna change U19 to U18, or was it U16 to U17? Anyways, everyone who went to Provincials post their results here, so I can read them for my own twisted pleasure. Phil
haha, i'm tooooo good for provincials... yeah right..... i dunno.... i'm just too lazy to go to tournaments.... haha.... not going to tournaments does WONDERS for your ranking.... anyone NOT ranked above me at the end of the season either: a) didn't go to tournaments b) must really be bad.. since i suck! as for U16 being seeds.... don't look down on them!! aaron hung (for example) is freaking amazing!!! he could easily be ranked top 10 in U19..... haha... i kno a guy U14 who could be ranked really high in U19....
Oh yeah, of course. I wasn't looking down on them, but it made me wonder how they translate U16 points to U19. Perhaps they took into consideration not only points but observations of their skill as well. Phil
Looked at the results so far; 8 of 16 that made Round 3 in U19 MS were U16s 3 of 8 Quarterfinalists in U19 MS were U16s none made semis 4 of 8 Quarterfinalists in U19 MD were U16 1 of 4 Semifinalists in U19 are U16 1 of 8 Quarterfinalists in U19 XD were U16 Looks like the U16s did pretty well, and it'll definately be good experience for them before their provincials. Phil
This is a question for anyone who goes to Lee's. Are the monthly dues advertised on top of the annual membership, or is that only for those who want to pay and play a month at a time. I plan on going there when I'm in university. Phil
dunno about that... but they used to have this thing where you could be a member for 3 months.. not sure if they have that anymore...
One more question about Lee's. Can you pay for and receive training in the classes without becoming a member, and is there an option for just playing for a month or something similar? I want to get training and play in the summer, but my social club doesn't run in the summer. Phil
u can only take the group lessons if you're not a member.... (they're cheaper if you are a member)... to my knowledge, you have to be a member to take private lessons... but then you can just be a daytime member ($50 a year i think...) and still take private lessons...
Oh ok, I was interested in the group lessons, I figured private is too expensive for me. Then again, a short time in the summer wouldn't cost too much anyways. Thanks for the info Nanashi. Phil
no prob... for group lessons, join the intermediate/advanced group..... every other group is a TOTAL waste of time.... last i checked there are only a few good players left in the inter/advan class... but that was a while ago... things can change..
What classes are there besides int/adv? I see on their website there are the following: I, I & II, II & III, III & IV, IV, V. Which one is int/adv? Can you describe the other classes? What players, if you know their names, are in the int/adv classes. I don't want to be outclassed, but I don't want to be bored. (I'm ranked #11 in U19, but some below me are better) I just want to know who's in it because I've probably seen them and know their level of play. I figured I could go up every Saturday in the summer if they have classes then, I just need to convince my parents to drive me. (I live about 2 hours East of Markham/Toronto, in Belleville , and as we all know, gas price is going up and up) Thanks again Nanashi, Phil
hmm... there used to actually be a class called inter/advan...... it was on fridays 6pm-7:30 pm./... if they have a class there, then that's probably it.. there aren't many juniors... mostly adults... i remember a guy named mark there... he's pretty good... dunno if he goes there anymore though...
hmm... guess it changed than.... back in the day (lol) when i went to those, it had quite a number of adults..
