I can get a clone of this raquet for a reasonable price(its a hiqua...never had any experience with one), anyone know how the real YY Boron 200 performs? thanks for the replies *Shaun is still on a hunt for a new raquet*
If it was available for a review, I would post one of the very few in depth reviews... as I used to own a total of 5 of these racquets... This would probably be one of the stiffest frames you will ever come across. Very stable hitting surface, and the weight balance when you swing you will notice will be more towards the head of the racquet, hence the tremendous amount of power generated from it. During my time of training, I used this racquet to improve my skills (before that I used the classic b-8100, huge step up I know....). Unfortunately I only have one left, and have it up in a frame. I don't think they're available anymore. As for clones I think I mentioned about the YY Dragon. I'm not sure about other manufacturers as none of them were able to make such an aerodynamic wide body racquet head such as this. Truly remarkable in terms of using the most exotic/one of the most expensive materials, for its time back in 1992 I believe. The length is a regular length shaft, again the emphasis on this racquet especially if you've got a powerful arm/wrist combination, suited my play/performance perfectly. I think at one point it even cost $300+ during it's introductory period!!! Still most argue that the Boron 2 was probably a better racquet. LIke I said Don, I don't know much about it. I think Boron 2 was geared towards singles, and I think it may have been similar to a carbonex design, but nobody has confirmed that for me. So, like I said in my post earlier... I just don't know.
also... Boron 200 was a design 'innovation' to help launch the Aerotus series, as the racquets were very similar in design. VERY similar. The only thing is that the top of the line Aerotus 110, which also contained boron/graphite in the head, cracked the frame, from having it placed in the wrong areas. Improper application of the material led to many of the racquets breaking prematurely. This I've experienced for myself as at one time I owned one, as a less expensive alternative to the Boron 200. Not a very wise choice as all five of my 200s outlasted the AR-110

... Did you check my review? I think I mentioned that. Except the color! thanks for reminding me. The racquet itself is has a glossy black paint job on the shaft. The racquet head is a combination of black and dark grey/silver cross hatch marks... go look at a picture of the Yang Yang dragon... same sort of markings on the head, only in black, and dark silver/grey. I think that about covers my review. Thanks Don.

Like I said, I honestly don't know much about it, other than it was probably Sun Jun's personal line of racquets, and that a lot of you have used it. I'm not saying whether the racquets themselves are similar or dis-similar, as you're the first one to tell me that they are different. I want to know more about it, and why it's different. To tell you the truth, I've become very open minded in terms of products we use, and I just want to explore our past more, to see where exactly the designs, and products came from. Pretty interesting actually, maybe we could add this to the website Kwun? A history of badminton? Anyways, I wont take up anymore of your time as I've got to get going now. Thanks Don. PS: YAY! I MADE 100 POSTS FINALLY!!! Not all informative ones, related to badminton, but as long as some of what I've written helps anyone at all, in learning something. My purpose has been fulfilled.
Re: Thank you. the design and stuff? of course. i am not sure if you had join by then, but i posted saying that i found the patent Yonex filed back in 1984 on the T-joint that was used in the original carbonex20. it is a technical article, but definitely a good reading if you are into such things... i am tired, need to go to work tomorrow. i will reply your other posting then.
Boron 200 in Singapore Byro, you can find the Boron 200 (I saw the last one a few days ago!) at Queensway Shopping Centre ground floor. I think the shop's name is Sportsstop 2000 or something. Its located near one of the entrances of the shopping centre. You may want to check it out! I hope its still there.
