I got my tension strung at 24 yesterday at it feels kinda slack. I mean, after i hit the shuttle, the strings displace themselves a little and i have to push them back into place. (not much though)

is that normal for a 24lbs?

    Thanks

String displacement after a hard hit occurs even at 33lbs. It just means that you're hitting the shuttle properly in the sweet spot and hard enough to cause the well known "trampoline effect", shift the strings a little out of place and finally since the strings are criss crossed under pressure they just get stuck at the displaced positions.

The main factor here is if you feel that 24lbs is too slack for your liking (meaning that you hit hard enough and yet you can feel the strings giving in too much and in the end just absorbing your energy input) then perhaps you can try a few pounds higher.

U can try to lubricate ur strings by waxing it so it doesn't displace easily...

string moves. that's a fact of life and won't be different any any tension.

it is not a sign that it is too lose.

if you think you are not getting any power out of it, then you might consider changing (increase or decrease) tension. but never change tension because the string move.

string moves because it was new and still slippery. adding wax will make it even more slippery. i only see that it will move even more.

Robin, what string did u used? I had the same problem b4, used bg66, ng95 before @ 27-25lbs. But recently I tried BG85 @ 26-24lbs, it felt much... err... more satisfying in every aspect. Maybe u should try few combination to get what u desire...:)

well....strings move becos its dry and not becos its slippery...lubricating the strings will make it easy for the strings to move back to its positions after a hard hit....

    my strings move plenty
i'm glad it's a symptom of hard hitting... haha
i'm very satisfied with my current set up @25lbs

i warn you, increasing tension can cause elbow pains... still a bit sore from trying out my friend's racket @28

I don't know why so many people are obsessed with higher string tensions especially in doubles.

Strings can also move by stringer error as well regardless of the tension it was stringed at.

Example, where the string tension when it should be consistent through all lines but it is not - this can cause the strings to move quite easily and shift without hitting hard. You can test by using your fingers and pulling on every line and each pull should feel identical throughout the racket – if there is inconsistency such as one line is tighter/loser than the one next to it that is an indicator.

In general strings do move but how much they move is also dependent on the quality of the stringer as I mentioned the above.

24lbs?? shouldn't your racket break at that tension after about 100 good smashes out of it?
