I am a French living in China and learning the game here, and I am surprised by the differences in the stroke's name in the different language. The different names are important to improve one's game, as they single out some aspect and allow us to focus on them. For example, the Chinese differentiate the smashes in at least three types : 劈杀,点杀,重杀, "cut kill, placement kill, heavy kill". I am sure there are others.
As the BC members are from all over the worlds, it could be interesting if people from different countries tell us the repertoire of the different strokes in their language. If you guys from INA, MAS, CHN, DAN and others would contribute!
